Why? They are responsible for most region blockades in Poland :-/

I didn't know that (I usually don't know anything about stuff like that) but my friend's husband works there, so it's more like a personal reason ;)

haydenaurion: So, which would you guys recommend if I only want to get one? This or The Legend? Skimming over some reviews, they seem think this one is an improvement over The Legend.
avatar
Clawdeath: The Legend, By far, no doubt about it.
Being a big fan of Kings Bounty since I've played the first one on the Genesis, I can assure you that The Legend is epic and Armored Princess is a piece of ####, they made great improvements on The Legend, like the rage box, where you can use your rage to summon a inter-dimensional demon and in Armored Princess they put a cute baby dragon on it's place, it looks like Lilo and Stitch (the only difference is that Lilo does have huge boobs), and there's a lot of other details like in the Legend you can marry and have babes, on the Armored Princess you can't, well in other words if you are under 8 and like Disney the Armored Princess is for you, if you are above 8 and don't like Disney go with the Legend and you surely won't regret.
Sounds good to me, Lilo & Stitch was great. :D Surely you can let a little cuteness into your crusty manheart?

Ah, ok, but his salary isn't dependant on sales? :P

1c Publishing is responsible for Poland/Russia/Czech(I think?) region locks on Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Rage, and probably a few other games, so I rather have harsh feelings towards them. Even though they publish awesome games like Men of War. ;)

coldalarm: No. An standalone with an expansion ;) There's no addons for Crossworlds/Armored Princess. It's bad wording on the store page.
Oh, right, The mini campaigns were an itegral part of Crossworlds, my bad!:)

WBGhiro: Nevermind, I should not get involved in internet arguments.

SilentDagger: Scared?
Of wasting my time? Yes.

Seriously, I know nothing whatsoever about stuff like that. I think I'm probably a kind of mammoth living in the ice age - believe it or not but when I discovered GOG.com I asked myself a question: "What the heck is this DRM those guys are constantly talking about?" And I was terrified when I realized so basically I just stick to GOG.com because I can be sure I don't have to worry about stuff like that.

The fact remains that it's not nice to use any region locks I will write my friend about it. And yes, I'm aware it won't change anything ;)
I love KB series and I only played KB:TL so far, which was purchased on GOG. But by looking at this new release I am afraid, veeery afraid of it. Why? A few points, most important ones:

a) price: I do agree (as fan of fantasy strategy games, starting from HoMM) that KB is phenomenal series, but this current price, even with current discount it is sadly to much for me, and probably this status will not change too soon.

b) time: at some time in distant future, when I gather required payment I will be sucked in the KB world at once and I already do not have so much free time as I want to play it, so I will need sacrifice something else, that's really bad news for me.

c) past events: as I said, I purchased KB:TL on GOG, this was my first and only purchase of this game, as I wanted DRM free version. At first I was all happy, but later.... (here is the link to long story). Yes, it had kind of happy ending - game was.. ekhm... how to say it... "patched" could be some word, but whole history of my fight with GOG's and original game makers' support (which, by the way, caused me to stop playing KB) sets me now in very unsure position.
Very nice surprise, thanks GOG!
All of the Kings Bounty games are good if you like an RPG/strategy blend. Being on GOG just makes them better.

Clawdeath: Slightly different? Identical? are you blind or what? Have you really played both of 'em?
And "JUST" a cute dragon, I mean, really? It's like they have Chuck Norris and then they put Justin Bieber on his place, if you think that after they changed the demons on the rage box for a cute baby dragon the game is still the same, you are the one with enormously deeper problems, for you it would probably be the same if they have changed the rage box for my little pony, sorry to say that, but you really sounded like a Brony.
Not sure what a Brony is, but I played both of them lots of times. I wouldnt mind if the rage box was a pony, why does it matter, as long as it still offers complex gameplay and lots of tactical possibilities.

So as far as you care, as long as the game mechanics stay the same, you wouldn't care who the characters of the game are, nor what the background story is, they could change the main character for Hitler and the monsters for Jews and as long as the gameplay stay the same it would be the same thing, I am not a casual gamer, I really care for who the Characters are, and what the background story is, and being a huge fan of Kings Bounty since the early nineties I really get pissed when after almost 20 years without releasing a new game, they release a great sequence with a lot of cool stuff just to cut it out on the next game, first they give you an awesome thing, and then they took it back, it's unfair, to say the least.

Reductio ad Hitlerum is a daft response for any argument. If you don't like something, that's your right - but to try to draw comparisons with one of the greatest human atrocities in recorded history is ludicrous.
