Puts the “fun” into “funtasy adventure game”!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_book_of_unwritten_tales]The Book of Unwritten Tales, a wonderful and incredibly well-written point-and-click adventure game that spoofs almost every existing fantasy cliche, is now available on GOG.com 10% off for limited time. That’s only $17.99 until Tuesday, August 7 at 09:00 AM GMT.

The creators of The Book of Unwritten Tales are that masters of one very difficult but highly-valued genre of humor: parody. The game light-heartedly spoofs countless fantasy universes, drawing from books, movies, and games (although it focuses most of its punches on a certain popular MMORPG;)). Some of the characters are well aware of their predicament of being a part of a computer game, so expect the fourth wall to be shattered into small pieces before you reach the ending credits.

In The Book of Unwritten Tales you control the cast of unlikely (but very much likeable!) heroes using a classic point-and-click interface. They visit countless puzzle-packed locations--each beautifully presented in lush 3D graphics--that combine into a large and detailed gameworld. The adventure consists of five lengthy chapters interpersed with many top-notch cinematics, so the game guarantees hours of story-driven fun that will leave you craving for more.

The Book of Unwritten Tales--a splendid adventure with great voice-acting and heaps of witty punchlines will have you laughing out loud like a gleeful goblin for only $17.99 for the next 7 days.
Great! I was waiting just for this! Now to get my paycheck and +1 GoG for me! Heehee!
Looks and sounds very interesting, but tad to steep. Especially after the Steam sales.
Cute, but way too overpriced for me.
Another fantasy spoof adventure, but admittedly one of the best in that regard, with good gamelength, excellent voiceacting, and quite a bit of originality and humor, despite the unoriginal premise. But I'll join the chorus of those who think the price is a bit high for a translation that's lacking the original voiceovers.
Like many other's above, I refuse to buy German games without the original language. Why is this so hard for gog.com? Every other digital store manages to offer a huge variety of languages for every game (even DotEmu, and they are otherwise horrible), so what's the big difficulty? I just don't get it. Why should I buy this game here, if I can get it at retail DRM-free, in German and also much, much cheaper (20$ is pretty expensive - if at least they would have included the prequel...)?

That's pretty much my only criticism on gog.com I have right now, but it's a big one, because they have such a good, large catalog of great German games that I just cannot buy, and it's been an issue for a long time now.

I could even (almost) understand if they don't get German for their older titles, but for new releases? There's just no excuse.

Sorry guys; but "fantasy spoof"is an ancient and tired genre, "they know they're in a game!" is an ancient and tired joke, I've never played "a certain popular MMORPG," and anyway, after the Steam sale (and while the Gamersgate sale is going on), I just really don't feel like playing $20 (sorry, $17.99) for an adventure game right now.
BTW, if you do want to see what the game is all about (and it does get excellent reviews), there's a downloadable demo at the developers website here:

Well, since I already own the retail-version of the "The book of unwritten tales Collectors Edition" (containing "TBouT" and its sequel (well actually prequel, because it plays before part one) "Die Vieh Chroniken", (soon to come to gog, I`m sure) I wont buy it here - sorry GoG.

As a side note: I wouldn`t buy it here, even if I didn`t already own it...because I expect the german language included, at least from games, that originated from Germany!

And as another unrelated side note: I find it funny, how many of my german fellows insist on the german version...most of the time, they declare to go for the UK-version. ;)
And they don`t care for german language support, as long as the game they get is uncut. :D
Hell,...most of them would go for the Kiswahili version with swedish subtitles. Main thing: uncut! :D

So is this now the uncut version, where you can see the wee-wee?
Looks great. I'll be picking this up from GOG this week. Thanks GOG... and Nordic ;)

ThomNG: Dear GOG community,
*snip!*
Hey, look! A developer graced our humble forums. Quick, my goglings! Unleash the question-storm! ;-)

(Hopefully he'll return and answer at least some of them.)

I will probably let the mummy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUOIHRf8PII) answer your questions - hope you have enough patience. :P

Um... you said it yourself: German language for games originating from Germany with good voiceover, foreign version for the rest. Uncut is another factor, but those two collide very rarely, I believe.
