This is also a chance for GOG releases. Since the Steamworks integration is really just tacked on to appease Valve, it can easily be removed for a delayed GOG release. Unless their contract with Valve includes permanent Steam exclusivity, of course.

On the subject of the developer, they also mentioned how The Whispered World on Steam doesn't make them any money, so who gets the revenues from GOG sales?
So no german? i don't really like the english voicework.

Still nice site update GOG.
Very nice, GOG the game looks pretty. Don't know how it is in gameplay, but still - wishlisted. :)

Phaidox: - I read that Daedalic was forced to adopt Steam DRM due to the fact Valve had kept rejecting their games. Steamworks implementation means they won't have to go through the "approval" process ever again.

Daedalic is actually complaining about being ignored by Steam. They say, that they will be go bankrupt if Steam continious to ignore their games.

So "Sativas Ketten" will be published by Koch Media, they had great success with "Dead Island" and so they have no problems to put their games on Steam. Daedalic hopes, that they may get a foot-in-the-door with the game.

A german game, only available as translated english version with mediocre voice acting? Sorry GOG, but I'm disappointed. Shouldn't be THAT difficult to sell recent games in all available languages...

Just to point out what you're missing here: The Whispered world costs 19.99 EURO (that's $26.99) on Steam! That's nearly the double of GOG's price oO I'm sure you guys are fully aware (and proud) of this... So why don't you want to pull us non-english Europeans off from Steam? I don't get it... I'm not the only one who prefers playing in his native language, over a cheaper price, a DRM free game and free extras (especially the artworks sound great). I've read more than once (in spanish and german forums), that people like the idea behind GOG, but don't buy your games, because they're just available in english.

If it isn't a mistake (maybe you just have forgotten to mention the other languages?), that's just disappointing. I was looking forward to "Good New Games", because I don't like the DRM in newer games and because of your prices. Most "old" (2 or 3 years, but for Steam it's old) games on Steam are simply overpriced because of their $ = € policy. But playing in my native language is worth a lot to me!
Dear GOG team: Please consider offering the German versions of Daedalic Games as well.

A great portion of German gamers (and Adventure games in particular) reject Steam due to the DRM and due to Steam's omnipresence this has made digital distribution in general very unpopular in Germany. This would be a great opportunity to get Germans to accept digital distribution a little more.

And it would just sell much better in germany if it would have both existing languages available. Believe me! :)
Seems great! For me and especially for my gf. Buy it with the next month's salary :)

Steam apparently ignored earlier Daedalic adventures on the grounds that the target audience for German-made adventures is too small. and that's probably true. Germany (or German-speaking Europe) is the last remaining bastion of the point-and-click adventure game. no other country or region still develops as many adventures and in no other country do they sell as well as in Germany.

Daedalic is desperate to get onto Steam because in this day and age, their survival depends on getting their games onto Steam.

that's just the way it is. there's a huge number of PC gamers now that are digital-only and won't buy disc-based editions anymore. and a large percentage of those is Steam-only as well because they don't want more than one digital platform, which is reasonable IMO.

i'm glad to see The Whispered World on GOG but i won't be buying it unless they add German language as well. as a native German speaker i play German games in their native language, just like i play American and British games in English. for the same reason i already bought Sacred on DotEmu instead of on GOG... and Steam offers most games in a multilingual edition, so i'd go for the Steam edition tbh.

Great addition to the catalog got, but i agree with the other posters, if other languages are available, they should defo be available for download - the more languages the more downloads!

fingers crossed for an update soon.
Only I have never heard of Steam forcing a publisher to publish anything Steam exclusive. Either they have lowered their mask and shown their true face or Daedelic/Koch is not flexible enough to try out more than one selling channel. If Daedelic really wanted and were allowed to provide a GOG version I am sure they could.
I'm not familiar with this game, but the reviews on Metacritic seem a bit of a mixed bag

Btw, I'd welcome to see the original language included too. Foreign dubbing is usually kind of blah (Everlight is a great example).
