My hopes was high when Ubisoft bring AC1 and HOMM5 here DRM-Free. Then... Then nothing happened. Even we couldn't see FF7, new Hitman games, AC other than AC1.

Do you think GOG will remain mostly for old games, indie titles and very few new games? It seems so. The companies will never abondan DRM, region pricing.

So my suggesting if you are holding to buy some games in the hope of they will come to GOG, DON'T. Just buy them from Gamersgate, Amazon, Steam or whatever.
Try GNG.com!

Just kidding ;-)

That's pretty much what I'm doing. GOG, DRM-Frees, Indiegames or Good old Disk. No Steam, GG or similar (or worse). Anyway, I actually can understand people using these platforms (easy updates, new releases, community, convenience, gift codes etc.), it's just not for me.
Yes but you forget that new games become old so eventually they will arrive. The problem is the rise of online only systems and focus on "everything shall be connected!" mentality.
Are you talking new as in recent games, because they just released Wing Commander Academy. And they also released a recent game, Shelter, what ever that is. Or maybe, you are just talking new or recent that you want to play.
I tend to wait at least 2 years after release for good pricing on AAA title anyways, but I still want DRM-free stuff to become the norm for intellectual property (at least if you pay an upfront amount for it) so I'm always glad when GOG bring a newer game that will appeal to the mainstream (the other DRM-free alternative is DotEmu, but they are tiny).

It's silly to require an upfront amount for a game that requires a server to run and it's silly to require a server to run for a single-player game that you paid an upfront amount for.

In short...

Online multiplayer game: Subscription, no upfront amount
Single player game: DRM-free if you pay upfront for the game or a Netflix-like model where you spend a small monthly fee to have access to a big game catalog is acceptable also

Of the ones you mentioned, I only want the Hitman games here . Otherwise - nothing .

He is talking AAA games from what it sounds like. GOG will likely not get new AAA unless publishers are willing to go DRM free on them (fat chance in most cases). Older AAA games always have a slight chance coming here drm free...
New games are mostly indie and old classics (the reason why most of us come here)
Funny you say that because a week or two ago there was someone saying GOG has been releasing too many new games and not many old ones. Their frustration with not having more good old games to choose from was very evident in that thread and they were tired of seeing new games.

Just goes to show that GOG should say the hell with their business model and cater to each of us on an individual basis. Think that will stop the complaining?

the only meaningful sentence.
With very few exceptions, I tend to do the same as Magnitus and not bother with AAA titles until they're months old and deeply discounted. With that in mind, I'm quite willing to wait for many games to appear on GOG eventually. If they don't, well, I'll sometimes pick them up elsewhere, but seriously there are enough games in my backlog that I don't really need to jump elsewhere for a game right away.

GOG can only offer what the publishers want them to. If Ubi doesn't want to offer up more of the AC series here DRM free, then I probably won't bother with them. Take it as a sign these pubs aren't willing to support GOG's business model and if it bothers you, then avoid buying their games completely.

No and here's why.

Well in that case, Dragon Commander came out what three weeks ago. We should get a few more from the same developer when Divinity OS and from kickstarters in the coming years. But other than those games, it is bleak for those AAA titles that some people are waiting for. Me, if it isn't on GOG I am not buying. If more gamers took this stance, we would soon see a shitload of new AAA releases on GOG.

Well, if you want to buy AAA games on their release, GOG obviously isn't the best place. Not Yet.

New mid-sized games will release here, Wasteland 2, Project Eternity, Torment Tides of Numenera, Ages of Wonder 3, Divinity Original Sin...

I believe that some AAA publishers want to sell their game with DRM on the first years, and release them here without DRM, afterwards. Too many fear of piracy (look at the EA new stance for their new franchises without offline mode and with F2P and microtransactions). It's a paranoid stance.

But I hope that mid-sized games' success (I really hope so), released on both DRM and DRM-free platforms, will change something.

At least, just be patient.
