Sogi-Ya: it is like $50 for a year, or $18 for 3 months, but the free games are more than worth it.

even if you just get the three month you can instantly get Sleeping Dogs, Vanquish, Infamous 2, and a hand full of Inde games for free* each one of them is more than worth $18 on their own.

*some Bullshit applies, but it isn't as bad as Sony could be.
Yeah, well, I considered getting PS+ before I even got my PS3 but the fact that you loose access to your games once you stop paying makes it much less attractive. As does the fact that if I had joined earlier I'd have a much bigger game library now while paying the same subscription fee. And as does the fact that installing via PSN takes ages.

Oh yeah, also I currently only have a 12 GB HDD which makes my console unsuitable for larger PSN games for now (I already have a 500 GB HDD lying around, though, formatted and ready to be built in should the need arise).

F4LL0UT: So, last week I finally got a PS3 which happens to be the first console I have ever owned (not counting the Atari 2600 my brother got for Christmas 1988). I have of course played on lots of consoles, some of which I had even borrowed for longer periods from friends but well, I've still got a lot of catching up to do.

So, I'm looking for suggestions which console or PS3 exclusives I should get.

So far I've grabbed:
Flower
God of War Collection 1
Infamous
Mortal Kombat (I know, soon to be ported to PC >.<)
Motorstorm
Resistance
Sports Champions 2 (was included with the console)

I've enjoyed God of War and Resistance quite a lot so I'm planning to complete the series, I'm also already planning to grab Gran Turismo 5, the Killzone series, Red Dead Redemption and maybe Heavy Rain (although I wasn't a big fan of Fahrenheit) and Lollipop Chainsaw. And of course Metal Gear Solid Legacy as soon as it gets out.

So, what are your suggestions for console/PS3 must-haves?
Ugh , there are loads of games I could recommend , but it would take me a lot of time to do so. O.o
In any case , be sure to play Demon's Souls , Ni No Kuni , Killzone , inFAMOUS , Gran Turismo , Red Dead Redemption , Heavy Rain , God Of War , Journey and most of the HD re-releases of great PS2 exclusives like Sly Trilogy , Jak & Daxter Trilogy , Shadow of the Collossus & ICO , Ratchet & Clanck , and many more.
Journey and Tokyo Jungle are worth picking up.
Journey is worth no more than 5$, don't waste your 15$ on it - it's the most overrated game ever. You will feel robbed - I swear to my mother lol

*shrug* If I find something that is actually important to me I will buy it, otherwise *meh*

I think of it more as an indefinite rental service; I'm going to get a year plan when my three months is up, but that is more so I can keep getting new games than it is about any kind of connection to the old. I already have a closet packed with old games that I beat in a weekend and will never pick up again, I don't really need more ....
Just added two games to my collection, Child of Eden and Enslaved. And special thanks to everyone who proposed Enslaved in this thread here, I hadn't really heard much about it and I would have probably skipped that one if it hadn't been for the recommendations by you guys. I've only beaten the first two chapters so far but I already love the game - the characters and the scenery are amazing. :)

The only thing that bothers me is that there's occasionally some serious frame drops, especially during the cutscenes. Almost made me wonder whether the Super Slim has weaker performance than earlier models. o_o

Yakuza series seems fairly popular, but I haven't played any of them yet.

Yeah, played one of them (3 or 4) at a friend's place. Certainly interesting, especially since it reminds a lot of Shenmue which I loved. Just read that the first two games were released for PS3 rather recently so yeah, may eventually pick them up.

It falls off a bit at the end, but that is because Bandai bought up Namco and kicked this project in the balls.

Still really amazing game, it just ends sooner than it should.

you are also looking at an early-ish UE3 game and in general that thing runs like ass, don't remember any frame rate issues in cinematic but the engine is more polished for Xbox than PS3.

*edit* I played the Xbox version, and no the slim PS3 isn't any less powerful; just cheaper materials for the casing (to cut costs) & top loading disk drive (the slot drive was also more expensive).

Yeah, had a similar thought already but then again, Enslaved is from 2010, there had already been quite a few UE3 games around by that time, even on PS3, most of which seem to run and look better than Enslaved. So I guess Ninja Theory really just didn't have enough time to polish the game.

Thought so. Well, a friend just picked up the Xbox version, we'll compare the performance soon. I'm really curious whether it's notably better on the Xbox (which on one hand wouldn't be surprising given UE3's history, then again, Ninja Theory's previous game was a PS3 exclusive so they should have known what they were doing).

Ophelium: Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (40 games for $20 or less and a lot of RPGs)

EDIT: Anyone know of a good racing game on the PS3? I hated Midnight Club: Los Angeles, but I did like Forza 2 on the 360. I really didn't like the first two Gran Turismos so if they haven't changed, I probably won't like 5.
I can't recommend that game enough, lots of great Genesis games on it.

Cars 2 is actually pretty fun and has co-op for the campaign. Sonic Racing Transformed, Motorstorm Apocalypse, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit are pretty good as well.

Great collection. You can even unlock some game gear, master system, and arcade games. One of which is the arcade version of Fantasy Zone. That's one of my favorite games, even though I can barely beat the first level. I have this collection on Xbox 360, but I'm planning on picking it up for the PS3 because of the better d-pad. Overall I really think the 360 controller is way better, but it sure has an awful d-pad.
Here is the upcoming game swaps on PS plus:

Sleeping Dogs and infamous 2 are on their way out, so get them now if you haven't, to be replaced with Human revolution tomorrow and Saints row 3 later in the month.
