GOG don't seem to be doing anything at all, which is surely the worst of all possible worlds.

We currently have a situation where the spammers are profiting (and therefore it's likely the practice will accelerate), and GOG's legitimate users are having to either read this junk or skip the comments.

It also seems that GOG itself doesn't care. I suppose it may feel that it cans the spam then it will also need to start blocking those comments giving a game five stars on the basis of warmfuzzy feelings from the game's original release, without giving it a new playthrough. At least those comments are well meant.

For a company that claims to be on the side of the righteous, it seems to have some very strange ideas about who the righteous are.

you could try brining this to the attention of the staff by PM'ing a blue or sending an email, Problem is that GOG is still a small company, it would take them time to go through all the comments on every game and clean them out, I do agree however that it should be done, For me the bigger issue would be keeping them clean

It doesn't have to be perse, i think with a filter on certain words (or urls even) you can take out alot without having to check them all, and it would also help prevent spam on those in the future. Might not get everything, but even if its only half or most.

Uh, no, the worst of all possible worlds is the Warhammer 40,000 universe, one company ignoring some spam does not even come close.

Some of the wishlist spam actually does seem to have vanished recently. If you look at the comments on http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/torment_tides_of_numenera you can see skeecher, Shukaku, bigsofty and me referring to spam comments that aren't there anymore.

Finally! Here is hoping that GOG also blocked the spammers' accounts so they cannot write anything on the reviews or the wishes.

Given how little they give a toss about them. it would probably be best for GOG to remove the reviews altogether. It's not like their current system even correctly orders the reviews by most helpful. That alone would help deal with the spam.

I can think of much, much worse worlds than Warhammer 40k, although I admit that's not a universe I would like to live in.

In any case, I had intended an implied "...amongst all the choices that could be made here." Not actually the world but a very small piece of it.

How's that saying go... the optimist thinks that this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears that is is the case.

In any event, it does sound like GOG is paying attention occasionally, so we appear to be in realist territory here, between the two extremes.
