I have the trilogy and am unsure what order I should play the games in? Clear Sky is a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, and Call of Call of Pripyat is after but Shadow is the first game made? leaving COP out should I start with the prequel or the first game made in the series for better game flow in the story?

This question / problem has been solved by darkplanetarimage
clear sky, shadow of chernobyl, call of pripyat
- a bit of mystery to it you'll probably like...

to be fair i only think the first one i really good. The second one (clear sky) for some reason is way too hard (or I must be doing something incredibly wrong) and i didn't have a lot of issues with the first one (shadow). Third one feels like one empty are with some mission in it, I dunno, didn't have fun with it felt way way too empty. Wasn't as hard though so it's playable ;)
Opinions will vary but SoC first, CoP second and then CS.

so the step back in technology (because Shadow is older) doesn't matter here? I will do clear sky first then thanks.

CS last that makes no sense at all as its timeline is before the rest and its made before COP?

That is the order I was going to try them in (order of release); but, haven't finished the "first" one, SoC, yet so don't know if story-wise it'll make a difference.

Clear sky was released in 2008 and Call of Pripyat in 2010 so its not order of release.

Well, if you want to start with the worst game in the series for the sole reason that the story is a prequel, I won't stop you.

NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Shadow of Chernobyl, then Call of Pripyat. You can safely ignore Cear Sky unless you really enjoy SoC as it's a prequel-sequel and the weakest of them all - but also it will spoil the storyline of SoC if you play it first.

I did not ask what game was best I asked is starting with the prequel was best for the story.

WORST IDEA EVER - ruins the plot of Shadow of Chernobyl entirely.

thanks that was actually what I needed to know. So playing SoC will not ruin CS but CS will ruin SoC storywise?

YES!
CS in fact nearly ruined the licence it was that poorly recieved by fans (some mods have improved it though and the new areas are great though).
Basically it ties up some of the loose ends from SoC, but... (trying to not give spoilers), due to the way the plot is told in SoC, CS will entirely ruin it if played first - and as SoC is generally regarded as having the best story of the three...
SoC it is then. Clear Sky with mods to follow ;)

BTW any mods to go with SoC that I should be aware of? user patch/unlocked content that sort of thing?
