I was thinking of getting it. But after reading posts about ppl booting others just because they wanted 4 or 5 bars only put me off.
Do fighting games really work on PC? They've always felt very console to me, kind of like how RTS' only work on PC

IMHO, they do. While fighters had their heyday in the arcade, playing at a desk is fairly similar.
Biggest thing to worry about is crap net code.
The only PC fighting game I've played was OMF2097, that worked alright, even with just a keyboard. The genre has moved on a little, but $20 is more in the take a chance territory.

Depends if you have a controller or a fightstick. I do not recommend you get it if you have neither and do not plan to buy either.

Arcade sticks aren't the standard input for consoles, either. And I find keyboard actually works better than a standard gamepad, most of the time.
Also, before someone rages against Steam, you only really need the product key provided, you can avoid having to launch the client. You can't escape GfWL though, so feel free to rage against that. Or the shitty netcode. Or ragequitters. Or people not setting their framerate to "fixed" and running at 30FPS.
Damn Steam, giving me the metaphorical finger and giving me reigonal restrictions.
I have this game through Impulse, and it plays fine on my laptop.

Holy crap, just a normal old 965? I thought this game's system requirements were pretty crazy.

Yeah, this game is awesome.
This game is apparently too awesome for the Japanese.
Sorry!

Thankfully, I'm getting it gifted to me from a relative in the UK so sod you Valve, your restrictions mean nothing to me =)
I bought it from Steam less than a month ago when it was at $40 so I feel robbed :(
It's a great fighter and a lot of fun to play it with my brother or friends but I should have waited a little more.
