so has anybody installed any mods yet?
I'm going to play the original version for a long time without any significant mods that really change the game, but these seemed subtle enough so I installed them.

I installed this one but haven't got a good night's view since then so I can't tell if I like it yet.

I won't insist in seeing it differently. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Instead I'd like to quote Jerich (I'll just link his profil, so nobody can claim I spoiled them :p) who basically wrote the most detailed Min/Maxing guide up to date:
"Leveling Alchemy is a HUGE pain to level. It takes over 10x the combines that smithing and enchanting do".

Well, that was part of my point about having to grind Alchemy (and Conjuration, etc). Mentioned the better rates of increase for Smithing, too, tho I'm not sure they make up for the seeming difference in profitability, at least at lower levels, and it still seems to require grinding regardless.

But anyway, yeah, agree to disagree and all that. And for what's it worth, I enjoyed discussing the game. Good way to pass a boring night at work. :-)

Wow... So I was wrong: Conjuration is super-easy to level. Casting Bound Weapon spells during combat increases the skill at a fucking insane rate, so much more than summoning or resurrecting creatures that it seems like a bug. Two uses of Bound Sword increases the skill level while Conjure Flame Atronach barely moves the notch on the skill bar. Makes no sense. Never noticed this before because I hadn't been using Bound Weapon spells. It's insanity.
I wanted to make a sort of an adventuring smith type character who travels the world searching for materials to use for her smithing (and improving it). Didn't want to buy the stuff. Anyway, I went around finding iron ore and stuff, and when I finally got my smithing skill high enough that I could improve my steel dagger, I walked out and everyone I met had an orcish dagger or better (I wasn't too good at finding ore/ingots and accidentally leveled up a lot). That's the one time that the level scaling really got on my nerves.

Later I realized that the best way to increase smithing doesn't seem to be making fancy things, but making iron daggers, thousands of 'em. Kind of ruined the joy of it.
>.> can Dunmer be blonde? I know in character creation you can make him blonde...but it just seems...wrong.

It goes by damage your conjured creature does, not the summoning of the creature itself. This is because you could just sit around conjuring creatures all day and power level.
I've got a weird issue now and I haven't been able to find anything by Googling.
Scripts seem to be delayed or lagging or something.
Some examples, when I kill a guy for the DB, it takes about ten seconds before the game registers it. I killed a dragon and it took about thirty seconds before the body caught on fire and another twenty seconds or so before I got "Dragon Soul acquired".
It also happens during some conversations when I get a quest, the dialogue will stay on the last choice until the game registers "New Quest: XXXX" or whatever the message at the top of the screen is.
Hardly gamebreaking, but kind of annoying.
Anyone seen anything like this and perhaps know what's causing it?
It's only started doing this recently, at first I thought it had to do with some tweaking I had done but even after reversing the changes it's still happening.

They don't have peroxide in Tamriel?

I heard somethign related to how the game handles cache memory. I heard it starts appearing as your game progress and needs to keep track of more information on your character and progression. I personaly did not experience this but other similar problems seem to be related to what you experience.

Well at least if it's a known issue it might get fixed.
There is someone on the Bethesda forums with the same problem, unfortunately he posted it today and nobody has posted a relevant reply.

It was confirmed that patch was already completed and submitted to Microsoft/Sony for review so we can expect a bunch of fixes in the next few days. So far no problems on my side (fingers crossed)

Are you sure? I could be mistaken given the sometimes frantic pace of combat, but it seems as if Conjuration increases have always come immediately after casting.

And if it is the case that skill increase is determined by the damage dealt by a summoned creature rather than the summoning itself, shouldn't it be such for bound weapons, too? I'm 99% sure the skill increases from casting Bound Sword this morning came immediately after casting, tho I did immediately start hacking and slashing, of course.

Also, a power leveling tip on UESP suggests that repeatedly casting Bound Sword while on a platform out of reach of enemies will level your skill quickly (tho that tip might not be reliable, of course).

It'd be nice to have a proper manual or in-game tutorial.

*sighs & remembers the thick, spiral-bound manual that came with Baldur's Gate 2*
