Why did this film received such low praise.

IT IS A MASTERPIECE.

Its like Disney's Fantasia all over again for me but with pop and very adult themes.

American Pop is the best animated film I have ever seen just equal to that of Fantasia.

Is it wrong if I post a link from youtube here showing the whole film?

I have not seen this! Actually I haven't even heard of this movie. Thanks for sharing!
Yay, animation that doesn't look like either manga drawings or the same disney pixar dreamworks cloned designs and expressions !

I thought there was only two styles of animated drawings.

You should go watch some Ren and Stimpy then. It will BLOW YOUR MIND.

Well, tv series are a bit more varied than full motion pictures...

Its called rotoscoping, they just basically paint over a real person and his movements which sadly is sort of dead in the animation industry :(

But it looks so amazing look at this:

Rotoscope is an awesome technique and it can only be better when combined with the likes of Frank Frazetta.

Enter Fire and Ice...
Or the original Heavy Metal as a showcase of animation styles.

I was just watching that on youtube. I guess on a technical level it was good. But the story, my god, the herp and the derp... Films like that can eat shit and stay in limbo no matter what technical achievements they claim.

I thought Waltz with Bashir had a pretty unique and very effective style. It's an "animated documentary". Since much of it are memories of the Lebanon War and the Sabra and Shatila massacre in particular, it's not exactly family-friendly. Here's a fan-made music video for an unrelated Tear Garden song with scenes from the movie.

Yeah, "Waltz for Bashir" is great. In a non disney-ish style, I adored "The Tune", and old René Laloux movies (Grimault a bit less). And I should watch "Persepolis" some day, but I'd prefer to read it first...
Got to love classic Animation from this era. You can feel the passion the artists had for the projects plus you always get far more unique stories compared to current features.

Loving all the Rock and Rule links on the side, that's another overlooked gem, has some minor flaws (more due to production issues) but a great cult film.
Yah this looks great, dunno how I've never heard of it.

I absolutely love Les maîtres du temps. I have only seen excerpts from his other two feature films, I should see them in full sometime soon.

Don't tell me you've never heard of this one. ;)

Anyway, I know you were just being provocative, but if you look for them, there are several animation movies that don't fit your 'equation'. Just to name a few:

A Scanner Darkly
Waking Life
Renaissance
Peur(s) du noir
etc.

Saw Scanner Darkly and Waking Life. Loved the art style. Also a game that uses rotoscoping here on the gog catalogue: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/last_express_the
Bought it last year in the winter sale, but haven't got time to play it yet.
