drennan: I thought Waltz with Bashir had a pretty unique and very effective style. It's an "animated documentary". Since much of it are memories of the Lebanon War and the Sabra and Shatila massacre in particular, it's not exactly family-friendly. Here's a fan-made music video for an unrelated Tear Garden song with scenes from the movie.

Telika: Yeah, "Waltz for Bashir" is great. In a non disney-ish style, I adored "The Tune", and old René Laloux movies (Grimault a bit less). And I should watch "Persepolis" some day, but I'd prefer to read it first...
fun fact - "Waltz with Bashir" is the only feature-length film made in Flash, and, though you will see it mentioned several places, it is not rotoscoped.

Some other animated films people should check out:

Waking Life
Scanner Darkly
Lord of the Rings (1978)
Animal Farm
Renaissance

(And I clicked this topic thinking it would be about Dark City...)

The whole movie is on youtube right now, it has Portuguese subtitles.
i've never even heard of this one, but back when i was into music movies i would have loved it. in fact, my favorite movie used to be almost famous. didn't care as much for the mark walburg film.
