Not in. But being such a huge Hitman fan I probably have to say Agent 47. Love how he seems both perfectly confident and cool but also kinda socially underdeveloped. Sadly the games don't really deal with that stuff, only hint at it. Then again, any attempt to focus on this stuff plot-wise would probably ruin the character. :P

jdsiege: Dream/Morpheus/Lord Shaper/Oneiros/your pick of a dozen other names. He's the incarnation of dreams and flights of fancy and aspiration. He's inspired countless throughout the ages and laid out some damned sadistic retribution when deemed necessary. Also, the sibling he is closest to is Death, who along with Destiny, are the next two contenders for most awesome of the Endless. If that's not enough, he is so shadowy his speech bubbles are black. :p
Wooooo~!! A Sandman fan! I have two Sandman-themed shirts. One is a dramatic white-on-black tee pic of Death looking oh-so-gothic and cute, as she usually does. The other is a pic of Dream and Death together, with Death sitting by his feet and a caption that says, "How would you feel about life if Death was your older sister?"
Great giveaway. I'm totally in.
Off the top of my head, my fav sneaky character is Gollum. He sneaks, minds his own business, and I love how he talks. I use wordses like he does sometimes.
Thanks for this.

I am very familiar with the second shirt. I've some close to ordering one several times. And I will as soon as things slow down a bit. I just wish Overture would conclude so I can get the TPB to sit next to my Absolutes. :)
In, thank you!

I was going to hit it really hard on the nose and say my favorite shadowy character is the Shadow, the pulp hero of the 1930s, but then I realized that as much as I like the Shadow, I kind of prefer the Spider, who was published at the same time. The Spider was this really emotional, trigger-happy crimefighter who took on city-destroying menaces every issue. He'd happily blast the hell out of them and then brand the corpses' foreheads with his symbol. He had a girlfriend who would occasionally take over for him and she was just as crazy as he was. The stories, which are quite violent even by modern standards (I'll always remember it describing the Spider shooting a crook in the face and the blood pouring from the wound like a faucet), aren't conventionally well-written but they have this crazed, fevered energy that makes them memorable.

foxworks: Thank you both for running this shadowy giveaway! I will not be in. However, I thought I'd post this shadowy character. You may recognize him :p
I will never be able to look at Spock the same way again...
I'm in, thanks for the giveaway! +1 to both of ya.

My favourite shadowy character would have to be Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series, voiced by one of the best badass supporting actors of all time - Michael Ironside. I just love the Splinter Cell games, or at least the ones I've played up until Ubisoft went stupid with DRM. Mind you, while he's a shadowy and stealthy character role he's not what I'd call a "dark" character per se.

If I think about purely dark characters, either evil ones or those who have experienced great loss/tragedy and have become dark and hardened as a result, possibly seeking justice and vengeance then Riddick is one character that comes to mind. What I like about Riddick is that while he is a total badass that can go all apeshit on anyone in his way and he's not someone anyone is smart to mess with, behind the tough guy that don't take any crap is a just nice guy who cares about the right people and right from wrong, but is willing to do whatever needs to be done - including wrong - for what he perceives as right. Hopefully he finds his vengeance in the next movie in the series, and hopefully there are more games to come out in the story line also. ;o)

Another might be the character you play in the "Blood" series of games... "I live... again...", or the main character in Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver (I forget his name).

If I thought about it long enough I could probably come up with a nice long list of top notch dark badasses with a chip on their shoulder though. Does Duke Nukem qualify? :)

The Shadow movie so underrated. It's sad.

To learn to cope with the strange Human humor is one of the most difficult tasks we Vulcans ever had to master. Some say it's more difficult than to reach the Kolinahr state of mind, when you get absolute control over your emotions. :P

Thank you for the giveaway, Thespian*, but I'm not in. If I had to select a shadowy character, that would be Caleb from the Blood series because... wait a moment...

Alright, I changed my mind. Count me in for skeletonbow!

Thanks Grargar! :) I haven't played those games in *eons* but I bought them up a while back on a sale. Love the splatterfest and humour in those games, mixing both darkness with light humour. :) "Tickets please... tickets please... Hey! Hey, he didn't pay!" :) Totally going to have to play though them again sometime before they do a remake. ;oP

Well, I'm a bit biased because Blood has become my favourite GOG FPS, alongside Duke Nukem 3D.

IIRC they both use the same game engine as well (Build engine). I'm a good fan of the ole duke as well, both the old games and the new one. ;o)
