Not at all, Tallima. ;)
I'm not in, but I agree. Darker characters are spectacular fun to play.

Garret in Thief is certainly a fun one. He's stuck in a prophesy he doesn't even believe in and it takes pretty much everything from him. He does what needs done, he's rather selfish and he kicks butt.

I've always enjoyed the more psychotic Batman characters from the comics. I hope to see a game bring the more psychotic batman. I like it when he's a lot darker. He won't kill, but he has no problem breaking your leg to finish a fight fast or to rip off an ear to get some information. It brings him closer to becoming a villain, but he's still the hero b/c you truly believe that the guy had it coming. :)

Thanks for the giveaway Thespian*! Live long and prosper!
I'd like to be in for such a lovely game I never played (only tried AoW2).
Thanks for the giveaway to both of you.

Kind of sucks that I'm repeating your example, Mr. Vulcan, but that's just the ultimate choice.
Dark poet with quick fingers and deadly look below the eyebrows.
Yep, that's the one!
Best cut-scenes ever.
"They were all dead. Final gunshot was an exclamation mark on everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger..."
That sentence puts a most pleasurable chill on my back every time.

Also, I see someone mentioned The Shadow movie. I adore it, it's in my top100 and you wouldn't believe how hard is to get in there. ;)
Also honorable mention to Jack Bauer (24). He had some very dark moments.
Not sure I'd ever play it, so NOT in.

When i read the question, i immediately thought of movie characters and thought gollum. I was semi-shocked to see someone else that likeses him as a shadowy character

Game wise, I almost ALWAYS choose a rogue or a thief or stealth based character as my representative. So I'd have to say me. AKA Skyrim: I just get so much joy out of assassinating a whole group of bandits. I'll even slit the throat of a ghost... How exactly does one slit a ghost's throat? I'm just THAT good. :P

i'm in, thanks to both for the giveaway.

As for shadowy, it doesn't get any shadower then the shade. http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Swift_(New_Earth)?file=Shade_0004.jpg
And he can manipulate shadows with his cane, how cool is that?

Since the GA game is the closest thing to Master of Magic that have been released, so far, cout me in. As usual, +1 for you.

Regarding shady characters, I was going to say Magus, but since movies, mangas, etc. are allowed, I'll have to go with Venger from Dungeons & Dragons.
im in
my favorite shadowy character is the fawn from pan's labyrinth. now the character helps Ophelia out on going to meet her father. Now the fawn looks dark and very shadowy, and it helps that he appears in the dark and he appears out of the shadow. The movie is good but you will have nightmare of the pale man *shudders*.
Off the top of my head, I'd say the character of Mr. Morden on Babylon 5 or more precisely the shadows behind his "offers". Pretty classic theme. Ask people what they want, give it to them, then tell them what the price was...
Not in, but very enjoyable game.
I am in, thank you kind sir!

Alec Leamas from The Spy Who Came In From The Cold is my favorite shadowy character. He is a spy and a double agent, but his real shadowyness comes from his hidden motives - one might say hidden even from himself. Why does he do what he does is the question that grows larger throughout the book. At the end, the question still looms.

What a great book.

Cheers, Thespian! Good to see you!
Please count me in. My favorite shadowy character is Andrew Ryan from BioShock. Thank you to Thespian* and OldFatGuy. +1
Daisuke Jigen from the Lupin III series. Ironic, always serious, with bad luck with women ( most of his love interests either betrayed him or died in his arms ), short tempered at times and with a strange sense of justice. And the damn hat and his Magnum .357

In and thanks for generosity.
