Superfrog, Alien Breed + Tower Assault, Tropico 3 Gold Edition, Worms 1&2, Cultures series and more 60% off!

Sometimes, we just like to open our treasure chest, grab a handful of great games, and throw them up in the air. Then we dance like mad people, jump around, and laugh as the games rain down on our heads like awesome digital confetti. Then, whatever falls inside a circle we've painted on the floor, we pick up and put on weekend promo. This week's lucky winners are Team 17 classics and strategy games from Kalypso Media. Let's take a quick look at our--let's stick to that--selection of the games you can get 60% off in the [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/kalypso_team_17_weekend_promo_090813]Team 17 and Kalypso Mix weekend promo, shall we?

Team 17 brings in a solid serving of nostalgic fun to the table. Look! Is it a strange little green bird? Is it a tiny plane with a red cape tied around it's cabin for some reason? No! It's ! This classic platformer of the early 16-bit era comes with so many memories, that whoever had the pleasure of playing it in the past, will instantly feel warm and fuzzy inside. All those who haven't played it before can now leap right into the arcade history spanning across 24 colorful levels, for only $2.39! What else from Team 17? [url=http://www.gog.com/game/worms_united]Worms United and Worms 2 managed to wiggle their way into the promo easily, even though some of them got squished while crossing the road overtaken by the World Rally Fever. All the games mentioned here can be yours for only $2.39 each!

From Kalypso, something to go with this summer's tropical heat: Cultures 1+2, an exploration-focused RTS series where you help a Viking tribe on they conquests around the world, you'll get the chance to cool off a bit before your brave warriors decide to invade some place near the equator. Both games can be yours for only $3.99 each.

That's not all. More titles await on our promo page, so make sure you go there and take a look. The promo lasts until Tuesday, August 13, at 3:59AM GMT. Have a great weekend!

gandalf.nho: I like base building style RTSs (like Age of Empires), how Port Royale and Cultures are compared?
avatar
Pheace: Port Royale is nothing like Age of Empires, it's a trading game a la Sid Meier's Pirates! but far more trading focused than the swashbuckler style Pirates! has.
And Cultures?

ww_gog: I love the Tropico games and like Patrician. How similar is Port Royale to either of those
If you like Patrician you'll like Port Royale, they're very very similar :)

gandalf.nho: And Cultures?
Haven't a clue. Sadly, from the looks of it, I missed those when I was younger :)

It's kinda like Settlers .

undeadcow: Aside from improved graphics; is there any reason to buy/prefer Tropico 3 over Tropico ReLoaded (1+2)?
Kalypso did a excellent job of alleviating many of the earlier Tropico's problems that popped up in the late game. Micro managing wages like crazy to try and keep tropicans working where you need them is gone for example. The pace of the game is also a fair bit better in my opinion. Gone are the decade long building projects. I loved both Tropico 1 & 2, but I honestly believe Tropico 3 improved the series a great deal.
The Ceville reviews are painful to read... It's a brilliant adventure - charming and genuinely funny at times, definitely worth experiencing. Why it's being labelled as "average at best" is beyond me.
No Wizardry promo yet?

/me rolls over and goes back to sleep -__-
Based on the post in here looks like I'll be getting the Cultures.

If anyone is still curious about the Port Royale games I like them because they are trading games that you can strip down; ie they are as complicated or not complicated as you want them to be. A lot of trading games require a degree from MIT to succeed; in PR if you don't have said degree you can still just roam around and kill pirates or become a pirate.
I wonder if I want to play Alien Breed...
Which Worms has the best SP? I don't have any friends so that will be the deciding factor.

The ones that aren't here yet, Armageddon and World Party.

If you're okay with just "skirmishing" with the CPU, then Worms 2 works. I'm not a fan of Worms in 3D (like Forts), but there are others that enjoy it.

Aww! You have friends on GOG!

Never played Settlers too, how is Cultures mechanics? You build a city, gather resources and build a army? Or is more colony managment/economics focused like the A.D. series (1404 AD and the others?)

You don't have direct control over your units (you have some, but not like in a classic RTS, like Age of Empires ). They're actually more management games, like Tropico or Zeus .

Never played the A.D. series (or if I did, I forgot about it )
Looks like Port Royale 2 is not in sale. I know, it’s a different publisher, but seriously, this is ridiculous. It’s the same series and even from the same developer!
Man, what do I hate those “choose your publisher” games some devs are playing …

But Cultures 1+2 and 3+4 are on sale. With witch should I begin? Or just skip parts 1+2? Any hints? The game looks fine from the description, but are there any differences between both double parts?

Thanks for the answer
