Timelord1963: My vote's for Jack Orlando - though I never knew what Novotnus posted below, that's very interesting! I wonder why on earth did they mess up a better game? :)

Novotnus: I'm not sure if non-DC was ever published outside of Poland. It was pretty buggy too, and when fixing those bugs they added a tone of crap and called it Director's Cut. It still had:
- Lots of red herrings (those never bothered me much),
- Deaths,
- Ugly ending cinematic.

It did not have:
- Terrible, lame catacombs part and idiotic obiects you need to pass through it.
- Some minor lame puzzles.
- Dead ends (at least I haven't found any).
Hmm. I'm still not convinced it'd be my thing but it certainly sounds a good deal better for not including those last three points! That's really strange that they actively added those points - those are the kind of things I'd want a DC to fix, not to be adding in! :O

I just recall it feeling so broken and flawed - there were definitely dead ends of the kind you'd eventually look at a walkthrough in despair and think, wtf? An adventure loses me at that stage if I feel that the time I'm spending solving things might actually be pointless.

Midnight Nowhere was a similarly bad adventure game experience, though that isn't on GOG. It is on the wishlist though :/

tokisto: Crusader: No Remorse. Awful, terrible controls.
AHHHHHH! This thread just keeps getting worse! What's next?! Deus Ex? Settlers? FreeSpace?
I'm only going to comment on which ones are the worst on my personal GOG shelf (and of the games I've actually played)...no idea whether or not a game like Kingdom: The Far Reaches is if I haven't ever played it.
Shelf: http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:DProject

Starting off with a game that will surely get some disagreement from folks over here: The Last Express. The idea of the game is alright, but I found the execution too complex. I felt that many key elements in the plot could only be found on an odd chance. It was almost always unclear, where you needed to be and what you needed to do. I've written about this a little bit more in February, here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_finished_in_2013/post222

Then, Waxworks. An old game, therefor something can be forgiven, but it doesn't change the fact that like Last Express, this one was very confusing. Rarely did I know where to go and what to do. More about this here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_finished_in_2013/post34 (the last entry)

Silent Storm: Sentinels. Don't get me wrong, it's actually a really good game (in theory). But the reason it's on my list, is because one level has a bug that completely prevents progression from that point onward. A game that doesn't work is a very bad game in my book. Don't know if this is because of my computer or what, but GOG hasn't been able to solve the problem, despite me reporting it as early as last December. More about this here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/problem_with_silent_storm_sentinels (and the link within the link)

Temple of Elemental Evil: Difficulty is legendary, but even worse is the amount of bugs. Finished this once, then started a new playthrough with a new party since I now knew how to play the game better. However, at some point in the Temple, I ran into a bug that made the game crash every time I'd switch to a different floor, thus making the playthrough unwinnable. Again, not a bad game judging purely by how the gameplay is, but since it is possible to "break the game" due to a bug, it's a bad game.

I....think that's it. Bear in mind, there's still stuff on that shelf that's probably way worse than what I've listed here, but these are games I haven't played (some might say a game, say, AITD 3 is awful shit but I wouldn't know, I don't have any first-hand experience of the game because I haven't played it myself). But out of the four I listed, the worst is probably Waxworks. There's a certain novelty to it and I did play it all the way through (albeit with a walkthrough available at all times), but is it a good game? By gods, it is not, no matter how you look at it. Especially by today's standards, everything is done wrong in that game.
Was Ultima 1 mentioned already? :)

Well, I certainly disliked Deus Ex a lot, but it was nowhere near as bad as Fahrenheit.
I tend to agree about Kingdom the Far Reaches, but in terms of value for money, Omerta and its 4 dlcs are imho even worse.

zmagnum: IMO Ultima 9. You buy that game to see how badly they ruined that series. If the crashes don't get you, the sure stupidity of the writing will. Case in point: "What's a Paladin?" quote the newly dumbfounded Avater.
What's a paladin?

Probably not the worst on gog, but from what I played: Baldur's Gate (the first one, can't comment on the second one yet).

The pacing of the game drives me up the wall. Before BG, I played Planescape, which had pretty good pacing, thanks to the game having sprint. I didn't play long (beginning of the second act), but the difficulty spike the game suddenly gets is unbelieveable. One area you're fighting wolves, which are piss easy to kill, then you meet a group of orcs-goblins whatever and your party gets annihilated within mere seconds. Also, not being able to talk with your companions whenever you want was also a punch in the stomach after PST.

I tried to play the game 2 times (GoG version and the new Enhanced one), I gave up both times. I read the story in wikipedia and I'm hoping the second game is actually as good as they say. I'll have time to play it during the summer.

I feel bad for you. And Deus Ex has too much hype.
And what´s worse about Crusade is that the controls are so terrible that I probably even can say about the other aspects of the game, because the controls didn´t let me, which turns to be a horrible game, just for preventing playing it.
And of course I´m talking about the ones I have on my GOG shelf. Of course there are games that deserve the worst title more if all catalogue is looked.

Elmofongo: ...
I went ahead and cheated on FC1, and ended up enjoying it after (to some degree).

Worst game for me would probably be Prince of Persia Sands of Time, because of the combat. It might be because I'm an "twitchy" gamer, but I just could not get the supposed "fluidity" and ended having to use a trainer for essentially all of it.

I got irritated at Rayman 2 and Beyond Good and Evil for their final bosses (BG&E I have never beaten). Psychonauts I'm probably going to need a trainer for too, if I want to complete it.

Have you played Warrior Within? The combat is much better in that game, in fact, I'd say the gameplay over all is the best in the entire series.

Not yet. I had other things I could play, so I just kind of "gave up" on the series. Maybe in a few months, though, I'll give it a shot! (Or when it happens to be on sale :P)
I don't know about "all of GOG" because I haven't played everything in GOG's catalog, and I don't think anybody has...

But the Ishar games, and Realms of Arkania 1, were profoundly awful. I love old RPGs but these were disappointments beyond redemption. Lure of the Temptress was also really shitty, but at least it was a freebie.

My brother told me thats a problem with most of Ubisoft Montreal's games, they lack player agency, letting the game guide the player rather than the player conquering the levels themselves. Only game that does not have this was the Splinter Cell games specifically Chaos Theory.
I don't care what anybody says, Jack Orlando is glorious! Have only fond memories of that game, although a lot of it is due to it's audio portion - the brilliant music and as Novotnus pointed out, the Polish voice overs (and my fondness for the genre + nostalgia, but hush).
I'll never forget Biff, his crank and the old lady in the window ;P
