Thorvalla is pulling the plug. Not really surprised, it was trending towards 97k, not even 10% of goal. Shame thought.

I hope they'll try again when they'll have an actual game to show. Asking for $1 000 000 with nothing but a bunch of sketches was a bit silly.
Aye, they said they spent 2 months on their pitch, but I don't know if they really know as much about Kickstarter or marketing as they do about games. To be fair, people aren't miracle workers, and it's really hard to cover all your bases, but responding to their lack of funding by saying that there wasn't enough interest in their product shows that they're taking home the wrong message from their failure. Sad that all their time went to waste, and hopefully they try again with more proof of concept and a stronger marketing emphasis. You just can't make the crazy amount of money without that!

Im still unsure what the game is even to this day...
I think its turnbased with grids and cards?

Not a huge fan of things like that.
Hell i was not a huge fan of the name... its abit cheesy.

They should refocus and have a look at what they want to make. And then try to make a better pitch if they want to try again. But by the looks of it that wont happen.

The name was based off the Thorvall province from The Dark Eye tabletop RPG, which was used in Realms of Arcania (Thorwallians are basically the setting's version of Vikings). It was probably just a way to say the game would be inspired by the same rules and setting as RoA.

As for the project, it was really too vague to back, a bit like the "old-school RPG" by Tom Hall a while ago. If you want the big bucks on Kickstarter, you've got to have at least 2 out of a choice of a good pitch/a game that looks really interesting/a big name/a very-well known IP, especially now that most people have backed quite a few projects and probably have higher standards than in the beginning.
The Dinocalypse Kickstarter made me somewhat of an Evil Hat fan, so thanks a lot for the heads up.
Two I don't see on the list (sorry if they have been mentioned) are Data Hacker Initiation - A feature rich RPG for Windows and Kingdom: A Pen & Paper Space Exploration RPG.
WOAH! This pen-and-paper project is off to a soaring start! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/fate-core
Another interesting project, especially since the shipping costs for international backers are low.

Yeah I've come across these two projects before. I'd wanted to add Kingdom, but in the end changed my mind. The art is nice, but that's about all I can deduce of the end product. Couldn't even find much on the author's credentials despite some snooping around. Sorry!

Btw if you're interested, the Fate Core Kickstarter now has additional slots opened for the $50 tier. Quickly jump in on that if you're interested before they fill up. ;)

This looks interesting:

gandalf.nho: If you have a UK/US partner he can create the account in his name (not all KS projects are american/british),l without this I guess only remains IndieGoGo

McDon: Yeah it's set up on Indiegogo, don't get too excited it's not a game and not too big a project though.
First, no need to say "don't get too excited": I'm sure you'd love people to be excited for your project!

Second, the above is what we did with Arcana Agency (plug). I personally am in the U.S.A., but our general manager is in France. The biggest challenges are international money transfers and taxes. We spent awhile just figuring out the legalities involved before we could even begin on Kickstarter.
