I understood form the pitch, that it goes restroring the 8 old games to todays standards and developing them to portal platform as well. Then if they get enough money, they'll do an another full game with the money. Though it wold have been good, if they'd specify better how much they'll need for that.

Will be a japanese style RPG with strategy parts and historical fiction about american history scheduled for winter 2012. It has a video of the gameplay and is supposed to explain a lot of history as a side effect. Graphics looks like directly from the good old times - some people may actually like this.

The game will be freeware after finishing. Up to now 2000$ of 2700$ are collected but it still needs a couple more. If you like the idea, please consider supporting it! With the minimal pledge you can name and choose a line for a NPC character which sounds like fun.

Me too. I was hesitating between just going on eBay to find a copy of the game or funding this project, but David was very polite in his emails, and he's really enthusiastic about the project, so I pledged $20. I can see this is going to be quite the successful project if the funding takes off.

I decided to back Sherlock Holmes as well, as I am sort of a fan of Doyle's. I hope you good luck drmash, as it would be interesting to see these games resurrected from the mist of times, especially with remastered video.

Now only if they'd do same for Wing Commader.

The other thing is this version is getting a major "facelift" (the original FMV was obviously compressed out the wazoo), and possibly additional content (since the higher level pledges involve creating new characters and Times articles)?

I just backed the Sherlock Holmes project. I remember playing and enjoying one of the episodes a long time ago. Besides, Shadowgate and Deja Vu were some of my favorite NES games, I spent many hours playing them. Here's hoping you bring them back too.

Question for GOGers: how do you guys find out about these projects? Kickstarter's browser seems to be very unintuitive in finding new initiatives that don't have super accelerated day 1 funding.

A project that wants to bring back old SciFi books in Ebook form. I do not know how realistic their goals are, but I do not give a damn in fact. Gambling 25 $ on an unending stream of old classic scifi, which is not in print anymore is a deal for me.

Ha! Thanks for backing me! It is getting a major facelift. For the video, the mac and pc will remain relatively uncompressed while the phone games will have to have some compression to limit the footprint.

As you mentioned, there will be a bit more to the Times articles and the characters but very little of that will effect game play as the video that contains the major clues has been in the can for 20 years ;) It's more about bragging rights and helping to be a part of the process and write cool stuff!

Thanks a ton, Facls! I really do appreciate it! I do plan on bringing back these adventures! BTW, Deja Vu is my favorite. I loved the puzzles in that game and waking up not knowing who you were in the bathroom of a bar with 3 less bullets is so much fun. BTW, did you know that the gun shop in the game (a key location to get a gun) was not open if you played the game on Sunday? You would have to change your clock on your mac to another day to finish the game. I imagine that didn't get into the NES version. Shame. :)

BTW, can you hum the Shadowgate theme from the NES? I still can.

Yeah, browsing would seem like basic functionality on a site like that, yet having only "staff picks" or "popular" isn't exactly helpful.
And still, that's how I stumbled upon Holmes - "Discover / Games / Video Games / Popular" (if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, which it often is).
