No point...
I canceled two replies to this thread. =/

I tend to be a smartass and I haven't been around that long, so I worry that people won't recognize my attempts at humor.
Yeah. Sometimes I'll write something out, read it, and then say "fuck it" and cancel.

Usually just don't care enough to keep a convo going and would rather go play a game or something.
I'll frequently read something that gets my panties in a twist and make a sarcastic reply. While quite enjoyable in the making, such a post would just piss off the recipient and likely come to no good. I generally try to cancel those and write something less inflammatory. Sometimes.
Definitely, yes! Happens all the time. Even happens while talking to people (the thing is you can erase what you just said), then you wonder "Why did I just tell that? That is so pointless!" =)
Yup I do it all the time as well.

Braussie: Do you ever spend quite a bit of time writing a response to a post, and then once you're finished you look at it and go "What's the point?" then decide not to respond at all?

I've had that happen about 5 times tonight. I almost did that with this thread...

If you also have that happen, why do you cancel your post? What types of threads/posts were you responding to? Or was it just a mood thing?
Yup, that's why e-debates are often fruitless wastes of time.
Oh, so I'm not the only one with this "problem". :D
I saw somebody on SPUF say GOG is bad because of name
It took me hours of shock before replying to see if he was trolling or not
He seems not to have been
Also there is a vast amount of Steam is better because its Steam so I facepalm and die a little inside
I give up posting all the time, but it's mostly because I'm not confortable with my English than anything else.
Frequently - not just on here or forums in general.

In fact most of this post has been scrubbed in te same way.
I blame my malfunctioning brain!
Happens to me quite often, too. Various reasons for that. Sometimes I get interrupted and forget about the message. But mostly after I've written a few lines (well, sometimes it's more) I realize there's not much substance to the post itself or some other users already said something similar before. There's also some occasions where replying to a certain post would push the discussion off topic and before people start to get annoyed over that I just can it :)

I've found that is one of the things that make a good forumite.
I do it all the time because of three rules I have for posting. Following them is so so but I try.
Rule 1: Does it add anything relevant to the topic? If not think again about posting it.
Rule 2: Will it start a heated discussion or flaming? If it will is it worth it for you to go down that lane?
Rule 3: Will it start a discussion that is off topic? Do you think what you're about to say is important enough to you to post it?

I've avoided lots of angst and deleted many posts just when I was about to click the post button by following these rules. :)
Well, I'm lately doing it in a retroactive manner: for when I arrive to a thread, usually someone has already expressed the same opinion that I have, just better of what I could (to write in English is still a painful process for me), so... what's the point? :D

Two main reasons I have for cancelling posts would be:

Too much emotional involvement in the topic.
I had a sudden realization that I had no fuckin' idea what I was talking about.
