Many people seem to just want sychophantic agreement rather than have their views challenged or discussed, so there's never really much to contribute.

If I write a reply/post and the forum eats it(forcing me to rewrite it) I sometimes decide to move on.
Copy message to clip board before trying to post. So, if post gets lost you can just paste it and try again.

I usually copy the post I'm answering to Notepad and write my answer there before pasting it to my answer post.
If you use FireFox you can use Lazarus: Form Recovery as a backup. It save me from time to time.
I do it often enough. Or maybe not often enough.

It doesn't help if the opposing side uses emotion/opinion to argue your own beliefs.
