F4LL0UT: I thought "classic rock" only referred to 60's rock music.

And yet he said "80's and under".

tinyE: I think it qualifies as 'classic' if at any time someone has heard you listening to it and said, "You like that old crap?"

That happened to me the other day when I was listening to Nevermind. Thank god for me Lake Superior is so big so there is NO WAY they are going to be able to find that little bastard's corpse.
The classic rock station by me sometimes plays "The Unforgiven" by Metallica, and as far as I know it's the only Metallica song in their playlist. And it came out in 1991 (with the next most recent song I'm aware of being various 80's songs). First time it came on I had a big "I'm getting old" moment.
Puh, that's pretty much impossible to answer. I mean, what even counts as Classic Rock? Is it every rock music from that time, or is it only a specific genre?

But if it counts as Classic Rock, I think I could call "The Ballad of Dwight Fry" by Alice Cooper as my favourite.
This is like asking which is my favorite organ. I've been listening to Styx again, so that's all I can offer for the thread ^^

Suite Madame Blue is a great rock song

Just one favorite? Hooboy...

Gotta go with the first song that popped into my head when I read the title:

Golden Earring: Radar Love

But Rush gets some Honorable Mentions with:

2112
Working Man
and about half of their catalog

If I listened to Styx I'd be short one organ after blowing my brains out. :P

I kid. I don't want Dennis DeYoung showing up at my house with a baseball bat!

Sometimes you feel like having tuna, other times you want salmon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

+1 for having a sense of humor about that. I am not a Styx fan but I don't have anything against the band or their fans and sometimes making a joke like that can really set someone off. I once made a similar joke about the band Kansas and THAT guy didn't have a sense of humor and I almost got the shit kicked out of me. :D

uxtull: You don't enjoy anything new, like QOTSA or The White Stripes for example? OK then, let's say:
"Mother" - Danzig
"Wild Child" - W.A.S.P.
"Rebel Yell" - Billy Idol
"Painkiller" - Judas Priest
"Seek and Destroy" - The Stooges
"I'm Bored" - Iggy Pop
"Guns of Brixton" - The Clash
coolest list right here folks
@ tinyE: Heh, what a doofus. I have a big soft spot for American classics and ballads, including some by Kansas ^^

Music is too dynamic and multi-layered to write off bands and genres, I feel. But it's the same with other art- some things don't please your sensibilities, and that's okay.

Yeah, it's not that old at all, especially taking into account it helped to establish today's Emo scene.

Starburns, is that you?
For me Classic Rock was pre-80's music which would be Led Zeppelin - Stairway, Black Dog, Kashmir, etc. All music I was really to young to enjoy when it came out, as I was watching Sesame Street or some other kid show.
