koima57: I guess OP has an idea what to ask/get for Christmas.. :)
Well said, lol.

langurmonkey: The Intel HD 4000 isn't so bad.

Sachys: Agreed - I can max out most games (problems only with those that have daft systme check settings prior to playing). It also surpasses most similarly priced machines for realtime painting in photoshop (a far more demanding task than a lot of games out therer i may add for the sake of doubters and trolls!).
My experience is quite different. I have a HD4000 as well, and I can't max anything with it and run it smoothly at the same time. Thankfully I also have a GT650M to switch to, which takes care of that for most games.

Optimus I guess? Except for a few games which just refuses to run on or even recognise the Nvidea GPU. They are not many, but Kenshi comes to mind, and the new Unreal Engine games. No matter what I do and how many executables I try to force to run on it, they just refuse...

hedwards: Does it have an Intel GPU, because that's something that qualifies a computer as rubbish. Why Intel hasn't given up is beyond me.
Maybe because office machines is a big market?

Yes, it's quite inconsistent with the switching, and it's very noticeable when it doesn't switch. The only place where I have trouble getting it to run is with Flash, everything else I've managed to get it to work.
