You gain nothing by inserting a wiimote into the peripheral. It is a detraction, not a feature. ALL Wii peripherals require a wiimote.

I still don't understand what makes it a detraction and your only examples have been third party peripherals.

Not going to explain your Kinect - sensor bar comparison?

I can never tell whether you're an absolutely excellent troll or just so rabidly anti-Nintendo that you have to come into every topic about Nintendo hardware or games and make nonsensical arguments. Is it both?

Fact: Nintendo peripherals REQUIRE a Wiimote to function.

Fact: No other console publisher does.

Fact: This makes Nintendos products prohibitively cumbersome, inconvenient, and expensive.

How is that trolling? I am ex positing basic information. I fail to see the contention here.

Having to insert a wiimote into a peripheral because Nintendo will not share their proprietary bluetooth protocols is not a FEATURE, it's a DETRACTION. God, are you people so brainwashed?

I don't recall claiming it was a feature.

zavlin: nintendo wins with their marketing. Most people dont care about hardware :(
At least sometimes this also means their emphasis is on good game design. Only sometimes...
But i find people who havnt bought a console before look to nintendo because of the way they market their systems.
Nintendo may actually suffer at the hands of their marketing, we'll see how the WiiU does, it'll be interesting to see if Nintendo can get the "never-owned-a-console-before" crowd convinced an upgrade is worth it.

Now, in general this wouldn't matter, but Nintendo of North America didn't treat hardcore fans too well when that whole petition to import some hard core game or another gained serious traction. It would have been better if they'd said nothing. I don't know if gamers will hold that against them but it'll be interesting to see if the core audience is interested at all until they beef up their gaming library.
I can't say that I feel too enthused by Nintendo's hardware. As far as I am concerned, Nintendo's strongest point was always the software. The day that Nintendo no longer has a console business, the better the world will be in my opinion. Having a Metroid Prime 4 for the PC would be all kinds of awesome for me.
