Hey, cool! It's the forum quote bug creeping up again, we played with this a while ago (that is, months, or weeks, I can't remember), we ended up getting all posts pushed to the left instead of centered IIRC.

It looks like everything is sliding to the left again.

"Create, Acquire and Maintain Strong Brands. Activision focuses its development and publishing activities principally on products that are, or have the potential to become, franchise properties with sustainable consumer appeal and brand recognition. "

Navagon, I actualy buy Activision games since the original Test Drive (while my playing games of them go even further back to Pitfall). Nice of you to tell me I know nothing about them, because, you know me so well and all that.
Test Drive was never published or developed by Activision, rather it is an Accolade (and now Atari) game :)

Yes, my mistake. Long day.

Navagon: Buying from a company and knowing that company are two different things. Just ask the customers of Mrs. Lovett's pie shop.

And still no reply.

Just Google "Kotick" and read through the first few pages of results.
Whoever broke the damn footer...FIX IT!
Are you 5 or a communist? He runs a company not boy scouts. Thousands of people earn their living out of Activision. Just because he mentioned things that are common sense you hate Activision.
Wow.

Wow.

You asked why the hate for Activision. You were given reasons...their obsession with being Sequel City, the fact the CEO muses publicly about jacking up game prices, their trend towards more intrusive forms of DRM, all thing that if EA did them, people would go nuts (I've never understood this double standard).

Oh, the irony.
You think that telling people how much you're pissing on them is good business sense? Not very familiar with the business world, are you? Here's another name for you to google: "Ratner". £500 million loss overnight. Yeah, great fucking business sense you have there, kid.

Wow.

It's not common sense to hate your own customers with a passion. To want to give them substandard products for inflated prices and zero after sales support. Kotick is following the Trip Hawkins ideal for making games. Get them working and ship them out. Doesn't matter what shape the game is in just get it out there and on sale preferably with a recognised actor on the cover. And like Trip, Kotick thinks the schmucks will keep buying ini huge amounts no matter what happens because they are Activision.
The trouble with that is it only works in the short term, eventually customers get fed up with the poor quality, the high prices and the attitude. Eventually Activision will become associated with poor quality products and like others in the past like Atari (abusing customers), Nintendo (price fixing), Sega (poor quality) and 3D0 (everything) they will fall and fall hard. I await that day so I can take my turn in pissing on Mr Kotick as he is pissing on us right now.

I disagree. Customers do not learn. You and me, maybe, but the vast majority, no. The only who might change are the vocal minority that screams in forums. Activision (and every Activision) will continue to make stupid amount of money from sequels etc. Why? Because people want them and will buy them.
Taking comments by a company man, personal, and then commenting on an unrelated thread in a forum, about how much one hates (because Activision raped your dog, right?) said company is as childish as one can get.

You are calling me childish? I gave you 4 examples of companies that have fallen due to treating their customers poorly and you mention Activision raping my dog? Oookay.

Don't you get it? This guy is the hight of maturity because he can insult others and generally ignore anything that contradicts his perception of reality.

The main issue I see is that he assumes that everything the CEO does is in the best interest of the company and is using short term profits as his gauge of success. Anyone that suggests a long-term outlook is stupid because they're ignoring his limited perception.
