For many people, one of the many highlights about The Witcher: Enhanced Edition was that "inspired by" album that was included.

So I was wondering if we have any musicians on these boards who would be interested in working on an unofficial "inspired by" album for The Witcher 2. Naturally, you'd have to be able to record audio or sequence midi in order to contribute.

Several people made a bunch of screenshots as they ran through the game, so we could draw inspiration for the songs based on various scenes of the game using said screenshots as a guide.

Anyone interested? Looking for musicians and good screenshots of important scenes :)

Totally off-topic: has anyone else noticed the "ecourages" typo in the "mark as 'question/problem" text when you're starting a new topic?
This sounds like a great idea! I make music myself (although it's a totally different type of music that wouldn't fit in The Witcher 2) and would love to hear some tracks inspired by the game. Our fans would once again prove themselves as the most creative out there, I'm sure:)
I like the idea, too! Unfortunately I have no talent for making music what-so-ever, but I'd love to see that done!

What kind of music do you make, out of curiosity? I don't think having the songs fit into the game is a prerequisite so much as being inspired by a scene in it, though having them work in the context of said scene certainly wouldn't hurt.

Not that I expect you to help out with an unofficial album since you're probably crazy busy with your job! Still, you're certainly more than welcome to, if you ever feel the inclination :)

I make rap music, that's why I think my tracks wouldn't make it onto the cd;(

Rap is amazing, though. Its percussive sound would work well for some of the more action-oriented scenes, in my humble opinion. Example: pretty much all of the "Vergen Besieged" quest would work with rap.

Do you make rap music in Polish or English? I'm really interested in hearing it, either way, if only to sate my curiosity :)

Programmer, Rapper. An interesting resume. I suspect the forums may have inspired him.

Rap can be interesting, though, and I say this as someone who isn't into rap that much. Unofficial soundtrack should be a celebration of different styles and creativity, etc.~

I probably should. I did one forTW1, but didn't submit or publish. It would only be fair to do one for TW2.

As for those with musical talent but not means, there is a free version of Allegro that you can use and I think Audacity has a system, too.

Glad to hear! I'd also be interested in hearing the one you did for TW1, speaking strictly as a music junkie :)

And it's worth mentioning for those people that there are a ton of free soundfonts out there. Music is one of the few times where thousands of dollars of equipment can be beaten by free samples found online.

Not a programmer actually, I'm a community manager.
So, to those who would consider contributing/make music... what kind of music do you make? (bonus points if you have links)
incidental/atmospheric/traditional classical

I used to have a link, but my web host went away.

If I thought I had to tie myself down to one genre, my head would kaplode.

But I do have tendencies. Everything there is downsampled so there are some artifacts.

That being said, I'd probably do something solo piano or some other kind of instrumental.

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POSTING: Here are the screenshots I took. Sadly, I made them all smaller to save space, but that just means there are over a thousand screenshots that take up less than 130 MB. They're at a resolution of 720x405, so not too small. The screenshots are from a Iorveth playthrough and obviously contain a whoooole lot of spoilers, so only download if you've made it through Iorveth's path already.

Don't regret it ;) I liked the music, I was reminded of The Rasmus for some reason. I can't quite explain it. I like that dreamy/atmospheric sound.

Piano solo sounds amaziiing unf I love pianos. Something like that would fit the theme perfectly!

Well, now, I have over 1500 screenshots, 1920x1080 resolution... I just don't know where to put them. I make short .gifs when I find time and post them on my Tumblr, along with quotes and such, so here: http://euthanasia.tumblr.com/tagged/The_Witcher_2

It's 98% Iorveth, I'm afraid you'll just have to deal with it :D
