If they put all the separate paths into 1 play through, changed the storyline a little and let you play Iorath's side, Roaches side, rescue Triss and the King's heir then it would be an actual game but having to play multiple walkthrough's just to get the best out of the game is a bit of a farce. That's not longevity, that's a lazy development team!!
There have been all to many games made according to "studies" that "show" whatever. They all end up catering to the lowest common denominator and therefore being just above average for everyone. At best.

This game does not try to sell as many copies as possible according to market studies in key focus groups. It tries to be an awesome RPG.

If it then ends up not catering to "give me my banana when I push the trigger" juveniles who want to have and eat the cake - well, all the better for players like me!

MdotMania: (...) tea (...)is still made with tea leaves, water and milk
You know, every time I read something like this I regret that we invaded the soviet union instead of you uncultured bloody bastards.

Milk does not belong into quality tea and never has.
Play an MMO, it will last you longer and you will have all the grind int he world you want...

+1

I think there are MMO's, which requires one to get 1000 eyes or some 10,000 hearts.

MdotMania: Like I said earlier I thought it was going to be a RPG of the likes that have been released for the past 5 years and I 'think' I was hoping for too much! But it is 2011 and I thought video games were made nowadays with more longevity in mind.

Seeing that screenshot bought back fond memories. A lot fonder memories than I will have from TW2.
well maybe you are not into games. Maybe that is good. You are into doing school homework because a game such as the Witcher is too silly and childish ?

maybe you want to head to GOG game catalogue to buy the old games ?

I am sure that it costs waaaaaaay more to make a modern game with full voice over in more than 3 languages, and 3D graphics.

Well, WC 1 has 6 acts or so. Neverwinter Night has 10 acts. Newer games such as Diablo, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Dragon Age.... I say have 1 act.

if you do that, there is nothing such as "critical choice". You want to be a hero? A hero pays price dude.

You cannot defeat the dragon, then save Saskia, and in no time, save your lover Triss, and the king's daughter.

Silly you are

MdotMania: It may be I'm comparing it to Fallout:NV or Oblivion. Games where if you choose you can leave the main quest/side quests and go off exploring.

I want to find that piece of armour/sword that is hidden away in some random cave. I want to be able to stumble across a load of raiders and have to take them out an loot their goods, I want to be able to have somewhere to store my items, I want to be able to level up my character to a reasonable standard before I even do the first main quest.

I don't really want to be told what to do and when I should do it. Like I said it is my opinion and I did complete as many side quests as I could find but it just didn't reward me with anything.

Beating 5 people at arm wrestling isn't fun for me and what does it get you...nothing!

Going into the forest and killing the giant ant nests, what does it get you...nothing!

Helping the soldier being accused of murdering the children..what does it get you....Nothing!

Beating the man who is taking steroids, what does it get you...nothing!
so how is beating Fighter Guild, Mage Guid quest in Oblivion relates to the main quest?

btw, there are tons of cool armor you can find when doing side quests.

I bet you don't do any crafting at all. Because getting Karan, Draug armor requires more than searching around.

OMG, WHY AM I HERE TO CONVINCE YOU TO LIKE THIS GAME ?

BECAUSE YOU BASHING THE DEVELOPER FOR YOU STUPID TASTE.

BTW: YOU CAN PLAY TOTAL WAR. IT TAKES YEARS TO CONQUER THE WHOLE MAP. OR YOU CAN PLAY CALL OF DUTY ONLINE AND GET YOUR ASS KICKED 100 TIMES ONLINE. THAT MAKES THE GAME LOOOONG
