I like new style A LOT!

P.S.
Liked old one too, but new one is in no way worse.

+1 to that. i think they are very tastefully done.
They remind me Thief 1&2 cutscenes which i loved
I kinda liked it, but I think would've preferred a different art style. The style used made it feel...'modern' (and, IMHO, a bit out of place)
I didn't mind it being animated, tho'.

Maybe something not so 'stark'. Something a bit more 'washed out' (something along the line of Rebecca Guay's art, or even something 'in between', like Christopher Moeller's art)

As it is, the animated art works. I do kinda agree with the OP, tho' (a compromise: the same animated sequences, but in a different art style. maybe in a watercolour style, w/ the edges not too sharp/dark. the game is already dark enough...no need to 'highlight' it :) )
I have been biting my tongue on this issue because I know someone at CDPR made these cutscenes with a lot of effort. I appreciate that someone made them. ( ok, maybe more than one someone).I just think it is bad form to say anything derogatory about someone's art, especially when it seems to be a matter of taste, which is my viewpoint and I am unqualified to make a critique that would have any kind of impact.

I just have to say I prefer the "Monet" style ones to these. The old game cutscene/ splash page whatever they are called, were moments of relaxation.
I too liked the ones from W1 better.. I think the water colors go much better with the story and setting, rather than heavily stylized cartoons. Not to say the cartoons are bad, I just don't think they fit with the game.
I just want to say that I prefer the ones in TW2. They lend the flashbacks a grittier, and more "dreamlike" quality.

Well, I can't find any other big problems! This just sort of kills the atmosphere for me, and there's at least five of them.

Well, the art style/animation thing isn't 'game breaking' or even anywhere close to 'bad' (as I said earlier, I did kinda like it), and I think folks are just stating preferences (as opposed to outright criticism).

That's kinda the 'problem' w/ art and visual direction: not everyone will like it (it gets a bit worse if you offer an opportunity to compare, as is the case w/ having different art in the first game).

Art is kinda (? or totally? :P ) subjective (I was a former fine arts student...and I don't think I liked most of 'modern art', esp. abstract stuff). There are supposed to be 'standards', but who the heck sets those anyway? :P
Yeah, I don't hate the new flashbacks, the art is cool in it's own way, but I did really love the art from TW1, and I miss that the most :)
