It doesn't really bother me much about Zoltan and Triss, because I think the new voices are good too. I preferred the old voices, but I can't say I'm necessarily disappointed. The other two mentioned... yeah.

I can't stand the new voices for Iorveth and Kingslayer. I just found out about this and listened to them on You Tube. I loved the voices in the trailer - they were sexy and sinister respectively. I've even e-mailed CD Projekt about it. This is false advertising!! That trailer made me really, really want to buy the game. I also loved Geralt's new younger look, as well. Now I'm not so sure I want to buy this game. I loved the Witcher 1 and will probably get this one when they've ironed out all the bugs - I have an ATI card - but am very disappointed about the voices being changed. I hope they come out with an Enhanced version of Witcher 2 with new voices!!! Are you listening CD Projekt??

it's the same voice actor, so this whole "turned american" gripe is a load of dun.

But, hating on America is the global pastime. ;p

We are not insulting the efforts of those actors. We just want you to see our initiative, that this suddenly decision of voice-acting change, has sadden our hearts, and made us wondering about honesty of CD Projeckt RED.

It's not like some huge betrayal, though. In fact, after playing the game and hearing both the old and new voices, I'd say that the new ones actually fit the characters better.

But sure. They're dishonest for changing something that was perfectly within their rights to change. That makes sense :)

I wasn't aware he had an English accent in the first trailers. I think the main problem is the voice acting, not the voice. He's not consistent. Besides, the only really bad VO's are Triss's
I can't imagine how that 'actress' got the role. She's just terrible.

I miss Iorveth's beautiful deep voice. It was so good to have a deep voice for an elf but now it's changed :(

What you saw in the old trailers were obviously placeholder voices recorded in a rush (or a first draft), specifically for those trailers. You can tell right away that the quality of those recordings are much worse than the end result we hear in the game, and I'm sure not all voice actors had been signed - as far as I know, however, the Kingslayer's VA is the same.

Even after going back and comparing the two 'versions,' I definitely prefer what we received in the final product. I think he does an excellent job, and the voice style and tone suits him perfectly. If it's the American accent that's bothering you, well, not much we can do about that. One thing I love about this game is that there are so many different accents and dialects in it, adding a lot of variation to the way the dialogue sounds. I've grown sick and tired of role-playing games that feature nothing but chiefly British English, or whatever you call it. In TW2, we have that, but we also have a load of other types of English, and I have no complaints and only a few negative comments regarding the voice acting. The person(s) in charge of the direction here deserves an award, and I feel that all the actors and actresses did a phenomenal job.

The problem of American accent is that it doesn't fit in a medieval environment , whereas the British English , Scottish , French , German or Slav accents when speaking English fit much better (only for historical reason as America is pretty new as a country/culture )

I mean Temeria looks like an Anglo-French kingdom (the Lys flower emblem of French Monarchy is obvious on sword pommel or flags ) , a bit like Plantagenet kingdom that ruled over England and France for centuries , so here the home British and French accent fits really well

Kaedwen sounds like a mix Celtic-Scottish kingdom , so the Scottish or Northern England accent sounded really harmonious (although Henselt's crown looks like a Russian 's Czar crown )


Redania seems like a Slav kingdom , maybe a reference to Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth (the emblem looks very much like the Polish Monarchy Emblem ) , so the eastern Europe accent and "neutral' accent were fitting well


Niilfgaard seems like a mix between the Holy Roman Empire of the Germans and the Byzantine Empire ( Shilard 's accent sounds like south Eastern European ) , at least it suggest that to me , so having German accent or Eastern European accent was ok to my ears

Aedirn seemed to me like a Scandinavian kingdom (the name of cities sound like Norse cities ) , but they used regular English accent , but i thought that was ok

I mean i have nothing against American accent , i myself tend to be closer from this accent than the British one , but i agree Triss voice lacked something , Geralt's voice on the other hand sounds really good in American accent , probably because the voice actor is excellent and the same as in the Witcher 1 , so now i cannot imagine a Witcher with a different voice , that's why i hope they won't change his voice in the next episode , it would feel really strange at that point :)

I like the new voices especially Iorveth's. The only VO I did not love was Triss. She sounds okay but lacks maturity. At times she sounds very young.

I haven't looked at the credits, but the kingslayer's voice and accent sound the same as Ramsmeat from the first game.

Aye, that would be the only voice in the game that doesn't feel entirely spot on, to me. Triss is not some young, inexperienced little girl. She's really quite old, and have been on many adventures in her lifetime. She sounded much more assertive in TW1.
