Don't know why they would back pedal. TW2 sold well. They will make more $$ when the Xbox version ships.
So I have got 150 hours of fun from Witcher 2 and I've almost completed four playthroughs. Only now I feel the game has started to get a little tedious because I've exhausted all paths in the game and listened almost all the dialog several times. YMMV of course.
Where do these 35 hours come from, anyway?
I played 4 weeks, several hours a day on the first playthrough, but since they forgot the counter... I believe I got more than 100 hours out of it, though.

I do hope they finish the last chapter through DLC. I believe they really ran out of time. I mean, they make this cave with the amazing waterfall in it and you go in there once to get some endrega parts in case you used them all up (those endregas don't even respawn). There had to be more to that cave originally. And what use are the 3 new swords and 3 new armors, when you don't get to use them?
Chapter 3 is where I'd stick DLC as well. Some new armors and items would be a nice and easy addition as well.
Look at the play-trough in this way: 1 Act - intro, 2 act - main play, 3 act - finish. Just want to say that they put the attention on the second act and that is why it is the longest. It's true that more happenings are better than battle difficulty to have more play time but is also more expensive to produce ... I just hope that EA would not put their hands on this game and do what they did to Dragon Age. Staying independent this days it very difficult ...

If EA comes anywhere NEAR The Witcher series, I WILL kick some arse.

EA completely raped Bioware's phenomenal RPG legacy.
