Avalan: Unfortunately, yes.
If you don't mind me asking, have you downloaded the game yet, or are you still waiting?
styggron: Hello Avalon,
No I don't mind at all. :) No I have not downloaded the game at all. The only thing I downloaded were the extras. I'm in no rush to be honest, I am just mindful of the 30 day refund policy. I also see I need quite a lot of HD space to even install it as it makes temporary files. Not sure how much but from what I can gather around 60-70 gig to install 40 or so gig. :( my poor poor laptop :)
From the most recent post on here it looks like CDPR are indeed listening, if this manifests itself as true, my trust in them will return from skeptic to "back to normal" :) I have had issue with other devs with all kinds of things before so sadly the "trust" thing is all exhausted with me and there is little goodwill left, only "I don't believe it until I see it" status. I've seen too much "yes we said that but we couldn't because of this and this etc etc" ...... so no more pre orders no more kickstarters for software for me. CDPR was the only exception to this because I like their ethos so much and there was lots of evidence to suggest "they are nice and different to others" :) If this key binding thing comes through, then they have indeed listened to accessiblity issues and in my book are clear winners and "great people" and I would trust them. :)
[UPDATE]
Also from reading the numerous issues with installing etc, ie have the pre load then use the day one patch etc. GoG did say somewhere that this will eventually be updated and it will just be a new "installer" per se. I might wait for that. Sure that might be months away but as I said I am in no rush really. I seriously do not want to download it and have issues with patching, I don't have the bandwidth that would allow such a luxury od redownloading anything. It would have to work right away. Sure it might work straight away but like I said, no rush. Never played any Witchers and I do not mind being patient whilst the bugs are ironed out :)
Arghhh, bloody Reply Notifications. No idea what's going on.
Anyway :o)
Okay, I figured you were still holding out. Understandable if you're still within the 30 days.
As a detail, my install folder is just 25GB. Kinda amusing to say *just* 25GB :o) but maybe it needs extra space for temp files to install or...? Not sure. 60-70GB is a lot.
I'm so with you on the whole "I don't believe it until I see it". That's the thing for me. 'We're looking into.', 'We're working on finding the best possible solution.' and 1001 other things companies say, just don't mean anything to me now, until something is actually there and the general population are saying that it is indeed there and does indeed work.
As for the rest, and your Update, I think I would say (with a heavy heart) that I would not recommend The Witcher III to people as of *now*. I don't know if you're aware, but both The Witcher 1 and 2 brought out Enhanced Editions and they were very good. A lot of improvements, but those improvements were very much needed. I had hoped that after TW1&2, that the lessons had been learned and TW3 would have included many of those improvement on release. I don't think that's been the case. Even *regressing* with the rebinding issues.
If CDPR do come through with rebinding of keys and you decided to keep the game :o) then I would say it would be better for you to still wait a bit before finally downloading. Just my opinion, but the game has many frustrations. I know such things vary from person to person, but things like permanent storage, FOV, pulling back the camera from Geralt, sortable Inventory...
...actually, this thread is pretty good:
