Underground we'll be completely free.

Caves of Qud is now available In Development DRM-free on GOG.com, 10% off until July 17, 1pm UTC.
Descend into a diverse ecosystem of unlimited freedom. Dig tunnels anywhere you like. Mutate, clone or amputate yourself. Mind control the world's fauna and live like them. Make allegiances with over 60 factions of indigenous creatures.
This is a complex, unforgiving roguelike simulation. Freedom is absolute, the lore is fascinating but danger follows your every step: these Caves are treacherous and death is permanent. Until you roll a new character, that is.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Don't know about changes in tiles, Crosmando...you can ask though on Reddit (there is a strong community there and the devs are on there) and also do check out the game on their website @ freehold games.

There is a video on youtube with the developers playing the game...it will give you insight to their dedication to the game and also the depth of play.

First, I'd like to thank everyone who came here asking honest questions, generally the same questions I would have asked.

Second, thanks to everyone who answered those questions to the best of their abilities.

Both parties have helped me immensely.
Not sure yet if I'll be buying this game (generally not my type of game, but I've taken chances like this before with great results thanks to helpful forums like this one), but this kind of interaction goes a long way in giving people the information they need to make an informed decision.

No thanks however to anyone who comes here to insult the game while pretending to ask questions. That doesn't help anyone. Thankfully, most potential buyers are savvy enough to see right through that lame tactic and base their decisions on people with more honest motives.

I've never understood people who drop in to type scathing words upon a game they obviously have no interest in and have never even tried for themselves. Also assuming negative motivations by the developers based upon ... nothing in particular that I can fathom. Seems a monumental waste of time, not only for them, but for everyone else as well.

All I can say, if you have any love in your heart for a roguelike, give it a try. Ever since I bought it on steam, I keep saying to everyone who asks me "It is what Fallout 3 shoud have been" :D Even if most of my characters find themselves in an early grave, it is immensly fun, and the map is mindbogglingly large to explore.
I've went ahead and bought the game, haven't played it much yet, but it seems really fun and immersive.

Eg. I already had a really interesting encounter that resulted in a swift death - try robbing the chest of the merchant / NPC just up the place where you start in Joppa and see what happens... I can't wait to play the game some more and encounter more kinds of interesting situations and results of my actions.

It works perfectly on my Linux distribution of choice (Solus).

Seeing as there's still no GOG Galaxy for Linux, how do I go about updating the game when an update comes out? Do I install the new version on top of the old one (without uninstalling it first), or do I have to uninstall it, and install it again?

The former. Annoyingly, with absolutely no Delta, either.

I'd happily take a GOG repo. (But I'm also using Fedora so that's a mild snag.)

Wow, that's impressive in an eyebrow raising way, seeing as it looks functionally no different than the last 50 versions.
