Mafwek: And I already see extremely negative reviews on game's page. Sigh, fanboys will be fanboys.
GOG should only allow reviews by people with game on their accounts. The actual review system is still from a time when GOG only sold old games and GOG expected to capitalize from the nostalgia reviews by people who had played the games several years ago.
Nowadays, the review system needs a rehaul.

JomVanFliet: Indeed - if this would have come with the 2003 'Restless Dreams' PC port out-of-the-gate this would have been an instant purchase.

Now it's a wait-and-see.
Yep, going to stick with my retail version with SH2:EE slapped on top of it for now as well.
Well isnt that turn up for the books ?
How about the rest of the classic series as wel ?
To keep 4 company .

Thank you for releasing SH2 on GOG.

Please release the PRE-ORDER content as a DLC. Make it paid if you have to, make it available for only a week if you have to, but please make it available.

GOG users were never given the chance to Pre-Order.

I love you GOG!
Also, thanks Konami, this is the right call!
Unfortunately, this game has been released DRM free already more than a half year ago on Steam. So, dunno why it took Konami that long releasing it on GOG. Perhaps some exclusivity deals with Steam, i dunno.

Anyway, sure, it is not the "Silent Hill 2 original" but a pretty good Remake with some high hardware demand. Surely recommended, but i may wait a while for even higher discount (as i already got the other DRM free version).

Sure, kinda "double dipping" at this point for me but at a discount (rather even higher) i do not really care, it is a great game, so worth it to be supported.

And, yes, the preorder content should be made available somehow, it would increase the value for collectors and "double dippers".

Good news perhaps, but why not the original version?. Is the original game just going to be memory holed outside of fan efforts?.

Konami should provide the original Silent Hill 2 version along with the Remaster without SecuROM attached. No other changes required because there is already a fan mod overhaul which will make this "classic version" playable in good conditions. All the fans will need is A LEGAL COPY OF A SECU ROM FREE copy. I predict... the Remake may become sold 2 times (perhaps even more times) the current value, so it is a thing Konami should seriously consider.

Some fans may think "OK i do not want the Remake because i got a crap PC and the modded original is better for me... so i only get the Remake for the original copy inside"... this is how it works for fans but apparently Konami is lacking to see the bigger picture.

The PC game is already becoming hard to get in a legal way but i am absolutely sure, if it is included in the Remake... especially on GOG, it may even become sold several times the current amount. And honestly. no one wants to deal with the dirty SecuROM anymore, it is even blocked by modern OS as it is to intrusive (acting like a rootkit, actually it IS a rootkit) so fans who want to play it even may get a already "cracked" version, which is not working towards Konamis best interest.

I dunno if Konami even is aware of this... sometimes the industry is just weird or is lacking to see "the full picture".

Dunno why a company is unable to see or accept this truth, just how it is.

Sure, the Remake is great... no one was pointing a finger toward it but it is for strong modern systems and lets be honest: The majority of gamers do not own such a strong modern system; welcome to the world! So, if i would be Konami... i would provide both versions and my Remake would be sold like never seen before.

I do grant it... if not i personally buy 10 copys of it and will offer them for free on the first 10 users able to tell me "the best Silent Hill 2 story and why they are loving it".

Heh funny enough for the remake from what I found one can if they set things to as low as they can graphical setting wiseand put the game to 720 p it can run on a gpu or integrated graphics thats aloted 4GB's though FSR or the other companies eqivient is recoomented but its played decently reguardless if what I have found is true .. So if true then the specs was more so a ''just to be safe'' measure more then anything

But ya I do want the Og. port here as it'd be easier on hardwar and nicer in a way

People acting like SurprisedPikachu.jpg, as if it's strange that folk are not content with such releases. I'd be pretty damn angry if they ever release RE4 Remake before they release the original, too. A lot of people just don't like these remakes, and when they call them soulless, if you'd look even just a little bit into it and compare the dialogue and the acting between the RE remakes and their original games, for example, you would understand why. Or, if you are super dense, maybe you wouldn't.
A lot of the recently released games just don't have much quality in many aspects, and gamers are able to see the flaws for what they are very easily. On the other hand, there are people that would consume any product, be it the latest CoD, some new Blizzard release, or any other crap. And that's where a lot of the pushback comes from. The m0deRn AuDiEnC3.

Well, if Konami is providing the original-version without SecuROM inside the GOG version as a bonus, i will personally buy 10 copies and hand them out to the best story tellers here, no kidding. Perhaps the Remake can be played even on some weaker specced PCs with very low settings... but lets be honest: Who want this?

Be honest now... who wants to play a Remake in the lowest settings with FSR? It would lose all of its "Remake traits".

OK... i hope you got my point.

I'll pick this up. I know the price may be on the high side for some but if we want more games here on GOG from certain publishers we need to show them that they can make money on the site. REally want Konami to bring more of there catalog here such as the Castlevania series, many of there collection games, Gradius series, more Contra, maybe even bring back Metal Gear Solid 2. Plus Konami own the Hudson and a good chunk of the Turbografx 16/PC Engine catalog.

In other words this is a put your money where your mouth is" moment. GOG needs to show these companies they can make money here if they don't that means we will just get drip fed games , if any at all.

The game came to GOG just today, and there are already two 1-star "reviews" by non-owners!!
These "reviews" should be deleted immediately by the staff.

FSR isn't that bad I actually have played games with FSR on with the games on the lowest setting and on 720p resolution .. They often look perfectly fine if one isn't used to anything above 1080p and honestly I never noticed much difference in general switching betwwen those two and mediuem in many games I have played on settings and resolution.. the only one came I can think of that actually had much difference in any settings was Horizon Zero Dawn which is no surprise that game was built with graphics and affects as a huge part of its appeal

But anyway ya I get your point and I really believe they should have included the Silent Hill 2 pc port with this release atleast bundled togethered because of how pricey its been getting and harder to get legally let alone run and such as time goes by
That's... AMAZING! Always great to spend money on GOG! Keep em coming!
