Wow. life really is cheap in Other. I always wanted to visit there but your visa policy is so overly strict, e.g. I am considered too fat.

amrit9037: 3 litres of clean water
Well, at least that should be cheaper here. For $1, I think I can get several dozen, if not more, litres of clean drinking water from the tap (hard to estimate as it is a monthly pay, about 15 euros per person per month for all the water one uses, including showers, washing clothes and dishes etc.).

At work water is free of charge.

It's matter of perspective.
May be that's the perk of 3rd world country. :P
Here many people can't afford 2 time meals.

Smannesman: A tiny bag of roasted and salted corn kernels.
When there is fresh corn harvest we get to eat lots and lots of roasted and salted corn cobs. :)

HunchBluntley: A few packages of ramen noodles.
We can get upto 4 pack of plain rice noodles but you wont be able to eat it without putting anything else in it.

timmy010: couple crips bags
Did you mean Chips?
Oh yes you sure do because in UK chips are called crisp.
For consistently priced stuff:
1.4 Mars bars
-or-
2 packs of the 3rd smallest regular Lays crisps
-or-
3 packs of UHT 250ml milk
-or-
2 packs of 500ml "fresh" milk

For non-standard stuff (prices vary from area to area here):
2 loafs of whole wheat bread from the bakery
-or-
2 duplicates made from a provided key at the locksmith
-or-
a plain chicken shawarma/gyro
-or-
2 vegetarian meals, or one heavy vegetarian meal (pulses/daal, some vegetable dish and bread to eat it with)

Oh, sorry. I thought you live in the richer West-Other, not the poorer East-Other. I believe the two countries have had bloody potassium wars for decades already over the control of the potassium mines near the border.

What can you get for $1 in Finland, hmmm... a lollipop I think, or maybe a very small pack of chewing gum. Maybe a couple of apples too.

I don't think you can buy any actual services for $1, no one would lift a finger for $1, or even for 1€ (especially because after taxes and job-related insurances etc. they'd get only 10 cents or so out of that $1). So no $1 haircuts, blowjobs, shoeshines or anything like that.

PS. If someone thinks Finland is an expensive country, go visit Norway. My head was spinning how much everything costs there, starting from a pint of beer or a so-so dinner in a small 3-star hotel in the middle of nowhere. Or gasoline for that matter.

A pack of 10 eggs
1 liter of cheaper milk
normal cup of normal coffee

anything else I can't remember
mugged

If I do remember, I will update this post.

A pack of butter or
Two bus tickets or
2x2 liters of mineral water or
8kg of potatoes or
2kg of flour or
1kg of bread or
1 sandwich or
1 soup
A pack of gum. A car wash. Cheap sex. An ass whoopin'. All depends on what part of town you live and in what order you ask for those things.

Can't believe no one's used this one yet.

timmy has already covered the UK pretty well but:

A bar of chocolate (just)
Various bags or packets of sweets (small individual ones, not sharing or multi packs)
A 500ml bottle of water (if you're lucky)
A can of coke or other drink (if you're really really lucky)
Very little else.. you might get a small (500ml) bottle of milk but I'm not sure you'd even get a loaf of bread (unreduced) at that price...

And although it's been a long time since I lived there now, unless prices have drastically lowered I can probably give a reasonable guess for Ireland:
Absolutely bugger all because shit is really expensive in Ireland (food particularly, no idea why)
A litre of milk.
I haven't really paid that much attention, except for the milk.
