A box of Tic-Tacs and a glass of stagnant water.
..ok, ok, I'll stop overusing that joke!

Edit: In seriousness, everything's so expensive here, I can't honestly think of something you could buy for a dollar that's of decent quality other than a handful of candy.
We do have dollar stores here such as Dollar Tree where everything in the store costs a dollar. They sell everything from party supplies to laundry materials to frozen dinners. Just can't guarantee any of it is actually worth using/consuming.

I haven't really paid that much attention, except for the milk.

Oh, now I remember that the pack of rye bread I usually buy (Reissumies) costs about that, $1 per pack (of four), ie. little under 1€.

- 50-100 grams of biltong or droëwors
- 1 litre of milk
- a loaf of bread
- 6 eggs
- 1kg of maize meal
- 2 litres of coca-cola
- 500 gram tub of yoghurt
- 2 bottles of popular beer or cider from a bottle-store, or 1 from the bar at a club
Jack shit. :/

Okay, okay, you could buy a teeny-weeny bag of off-brand chips.

Smannesman: One can of Coca Cola or three cans off-brand cola.

Vitek: I wonder if it is in another countries as well or some local speciality but here you can for roughly that price get 0,5l bottle of Coca-Cola, 1l bottle of Coca-Cola or 2 bottle of Coca-Cola. Almost no difference there. You can't get the smaller amount (0,2l) for it in pubs or restaurants because those are obviously more expensive, closer to 2 USD.
soda is expensive here
in the last five years the prices shot up with 60%

a bottle of coca cola is around 1,85

Dessimu: Mugged. Don't forget that you can get mugged!
I doubt any mugger would be interested in 8 SEK. They'd laugh at you and tell you to hand over your smartphone.

Generally speaking the situation in Sweden is quite similar to that of Finland. You can hardly get anything but some loose candy or fruit for 8 SEK.

Yeah, about 200-300 g of loose candy, depending on the store. Some have higher prices so you only get just over 100 g.
You might also be able to find a 33cl can of soda for that price, but they're usually a little more.
