Smannesman: One can of Coca Cola or three cans off-brand cola.
I wonder if it is in another countries as well or some local speciality but here you can for roughly that price get 0,5l bottle of Coca-Cola, 1l bottle of Coca-Cola or 2 bottle of Coca-Cola. Almost no difference there. You can't get the smaller amount (0,2l) for it in pubs or restaurants because those are obviously more expensive, closer to 2 USD.
I only know what I can get outside my country with $1. I just ordered a pack of 5 screen protectors for my phone on eBay for $0.99, and I regularly buy bundles of games or books/comics for $1 on Humble.
here in prague:

1 draught czech beer in very cheap pub (but not lager, that is usually marked as 12° but weaker one marked as 10° /about 4 % alc./ )

2 cans of cheaper lager beer (czech or german)

up to 5 bottles of cheapest 10° or even lighter beer if one doesnt count refundable deposit for empty bottles. or perhaps one bottle of premium lager pilsner urquell

note: one beer has 0,5 litre around here

1 loaf of bread 1200g

1 cheapest tiny yucky hamburger at mcd

1 soup in a cheap pub

1
cheap tooth paste or a toothbrush

2 tetrapack milks per 1 litre

1,5 litre bottle of coca-cola

150 g of good pork tenderloin

100 g
of good beef tenderloin

1/4 of common chicken

5 visits of public toilets

and how to continue...? i think that founder of this (good) thread should add kind of obligatory list of some basic things with universal apperance in countries. so we could read for example one dollar is 1,5 pack of twenty marlboro cigs in one country but 1/2 in other.
talking about twenty marlboro cigs, one dollar is about 1/3 of it here in prague

- a small bag of raw vegetables
- 1 litre of supermarket brand milk
- ⅔ of a loaf of bread
- a chocolate bar at 50% off
- probably a box of tic tacs
- 2 soft serves from McDonalds

Life doesn't really get good until you hit the $2 mark.

Big money! Big prizes! I love it! XD
One of the following:

2-3 bad coffees
1.25 mars bar
1 bad chips bag
4 breads at 250g (that's the happy case)
1 can of Coca-Cola or a plastic bottle of Coca-Cola
A mini-sandwich

Yeah, we have western pricing and Eastern Europe salaries :)

Emob78: A car wash.
WHAT! My car is filthy, I want someone to wash it for $1.

Here the automatic machine wash at gas stations costs something like 15-25€, depending how good and extensive wash you want and if there is some quick waxing (by the machine) included.

Washing by hand is so expensive here that practically no one does it. I once tried one such service, ordered a full wash and waxing by hand for my new car. I wish I had checked the pricing more carefully, I think I ended up paying something insane like 80€ for it. Phuck!
One squeeze of a petrol pump.
Cup of coffee

If that's a service you're choosing and paying for you're doing it wrong ;)
I may sniff at a hamburger at McD. At distance of course.
I could take an empty 750ml bottle to the petrol station and fill it with basic unleaded
One of this choice :
- 1kg of pasta
- 4 eggs
- a little less than 1 bread
- 1.5 L of milk
- 400g of rice

Very interesting thread by the way !
