Caesar.: You can do what?!? Time to replay Monkey 1 (I think you meant that one).
avatar
babark: Oops, I do, yes. Finished MI2 first (on easy mode, of course).
I just realized that by "leaflets" you don't mean the humorous memos left with subtle insults between the cannibals or LeChuck, but one of the papers that Stan gave you with the ship. I though this was one of those rare puzzles with multiple solutions! Anyway, it's always a good time to play Monkey Island.

babark: Have you played Trine? It's a game I highly recommend to everyone when the topic comes up, but I found the final boss too hard and just gave up on it and watched the ending cinematic on youtube.
The first one, yes, I played through that some years ago, but don't remember the final boss. I guess I managed to beat it eventually?

babark: Also the original Torchlight had some annoying balance problems with its final boss as well, where the build I had up to that point (fireball sorcerer equivalent?) was absolutely useless, and there was nothing to do.
I never got that far in the first Torchlight, I only played through the second one. With the first one I got bored after some time, since there were so many dungeon levels all looking similar to each other, and the randomly generated quests didn't help to hold my interest either.

babark: Pillars of Eternity sapped my will and interest in one of the first major boss battles (against the rogue ruler in his castle or something? I barely remember anymore). It was such a frustrating and meaningless battle for me, and then when I came to the forest section after that, and was seeing more of the same (every battle was a "ugh" chore, instead of being something fun), I gave up on it.
It doesn't get any better after that either. I'll never forget the time in Act 4 where I had to kill a leader in some village. I was able to draw out his surrounding mooks to took care of them without much issue but when it came to tackle the leader himself, he wipes my entire party. The tank went down in 2 rounds and the rest of my party was dog meat after that. I WTFed so hard...............

White March part 1 actually wasn't bad, I can't remember any instances of where one super OP enemy was surrounded by trash mobs. Sadly part 2 started that crap all over again. I just switched the difficulty to strong mode and breezed through the rest of the game. I might try it again sometime down the road but I was sorely disappointed with PoE.....
Men in Black: The Game

There is a platform session so hard to pass, so I gave up, the "playability" of the game being already shitty that doesn't help.

Inquisitor - next to the gallows, killed by poisonous spider, knowing that far more frightening evil would await me, I gave up upon this potion-drinking simulator.

The Witcher - early on, after the first escort mission. I absolutely hate escort missions. And somehow I didn't like the fighting system.

Eternal Darkness - I never managed to find a way to end the cathedral level. the level was really confusing.
I was wandering around aimlessly for hours. couldn't endure the sight of it anymore.

Gabriel Knight 3 - the level where you have to sneak in the other visitors rooms at the hotel.
just trying a new playthrough, hoping not to have the same problems to go on to the next day in game this time.

Kings Bounty: Warriors of the North - all was well and exciting... then it came, lurking in the ice cave waiting to demolish all the fun I had with the game...the giant spider, constantly spawning new spiders in the bossfight that didn't allow me to deal damage and recover. The bossfight trauma goes on.

Summoner - The palace level after the nasty sewers. hate the sneaking part in the game, always got detected.

Thief 1 - Early in the game, in the prison level...maybe I'm really just to bad in stealth games, it's a shame, I loved the setting...

Koudelka - spend 2 hours roaming the mansion and leveling in the evening, saw no save point, got spammed with random enemy attacks, had to go to school next day...put the PS2 off and the CD back in it's case probably never to be touched again..seriously...what did one think when creating this saving system?

The list could go on...
Not really "stuck" anywhere but I guess it's not wrong to post the games which I need to continue at some point and put on-hold for various reasons. Pretty much all of them I will restart anyway.

Advance Wars: Dark Conflict (NDS): The grind through the missions became too tiring at some point and the story also wasn't much to write home about.

Deus Ex: Stopped somewhere mid-game because it didn't really grip me.

Diablo II: Played it immediately after Diablo and was pretty disappointed by the game. Stopped playing it due to that in the 2nd act...that desert area.

Dragon Force II (SS): Aborted playing just last year because of emulator issues. So, unlike the other games, I actually really wanted to continue playing.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (GBA): I think I stopped right when the story branches (or you can choose two different routes at least) due to me losing the fun of playing the game. Will only replay it after I've completed the predecessors.

.hack//Outbreak (PS2): Played it right after Infection and Mutation and was likely somewhat burned out. Game stopped being that appealing and the time commitment was often too much when I didn't have very much of it. Put it on-hold near the beginning, after you get the message of the pregnancy, I think.

Persona 2: Batsu (PS): Dived into it right after Tsumi but since it's mostly the same, I lost interest rather quickly.

Shin Megami Tensei (SFC): It's pretty much like .hack//Outbreak above. Got exhausted and even just playing a bit was already a heavy time investment. I stopped in one of the later dungeons and was very likely in the final 25% of the game.

The World Ends with You (NDS): Grew bored and tired of playing it. The game is way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty. As such (and because it's the same all over again), I stopped playing after week 2. It's highly unlikely that I will bother with the game again.

Vagrant Story (PS): Stopped playing at some point in the middle, probably. Not even sure why anymore. Either it was because I grew tired of the game or it was because I changed PCs and just never came back to it.

...and I think that's already all the games that I haven't finished in the last 10+ years.

Worthy of note: I did pick up two games again (restarted) and finished them after putting them on hold for 5+ years.

2nd Super Robot Taisen (FC): Was only 2-3 missions in anyway. Completed the game pretty much one year ago and even continued with 3rd Super Robot Taisen right afterwards.

Final Fantasy V (GBA): Same as above, not far in. Played it from the beginning again and finished it...and also followed it up with the successor immediately afterwards. Funnily enough, I either played both games right before the above games or right after them.

Is that escorting Vesna Hood the tavern girl to her home? This was the first mission that I failed (I was fairly new to RPGs) and I felt genuinely bad for the poor girl. Luckily I got over it. Escort missions are annoying, but luckily this one is by no means necessary to progress the story. I only remember another one in the whole game, which is not necessary either.
I can't beat the turtle boss in Seal Hunter. I occasionally play this game since like 2008-2009, I never could beat it.

I got stuck in Another World shortly after the water stuff in the early caves. The enemy would appear at the end of the screen and immediately shoot me. It seemed unfair to me, after trying several times I got frustrated and quit the game.

Gunlok, in one mission some key got stuck on the terrain and I could not pick it up and progress. I never finished the game.

Toki Tori, I have two levels left in the normal campaign, I couldn't beat them.
The boss Tiamat in Darksiders on consoles..... could never beat her.

Yes it was her^^. You're right I could have played without succeeding in it, but I think that was just one more trigger for me to stop it because the whole game mechanics somehow didn't manage to keep me entertained.
I prefer playing the Elder Scrolls series instead^^

The remastered Special Edition contains an built-in hint system that comes in handy. I used it in the last chapter.
Funny how I also left The Witcher untouched after failing to keep the poor tavern girl alive in the beginning. One day I might go back and try once more to keep her alive and shrug it off if I fail.
F.E.A.R.:
Stuck at getting the game running with constant mouse sensitivity. I can't play an FPS where sensitivity depends on where you're looking.

So far using a framerate limiter and capping it to 60 frames per second stabilizes sensitivity fairly well but that introduces other issues such as massive tearing and stutter.

Ooh it does. Thanks. No way I would have tried that solution on my own.
