thealtmaster: typical leftists getting people fired for looking at then funny
It's called dehumanization. It makes it easier to justify terrible things. If you turn them into a caricature you don't have to feel bad if something horrible happens to them.
The problem is that these games journalists are lying trash. See this quote...

"And, all things considered, you'd be forgiven for at least suspecting GamerGate sympathies, if not outright support. It's why I decide to stop dancing around the issue and come straight out and ask him: do you support GamerGate?

There's a pause while he thinks."

Linko talked to Eurogamer through an exchange of Tweets. How the heck can this lying journalist talk of a "long pause" while he thinks. Nope. Eurogamer tried to turn it into something it isn't. More screwed up lying games journalists. Spinning this into something it isn't.

More proof that a clip about pissing on "Games Journalism" was totally justified and there was nothing wrong with it.

goral: It's been confirmed, Linko90 has been fired (which was obvious to anyone with at least half a brain): https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-12-05-troubling-gog-tweets-a-fired-cd-projekt-employee-and-the-spectre-of-gamergate

It turns out that leftists were wrong as always.
On the contrary, they were totally right in their strategy. Just look at the results:

1. They made GOG to fall in line and made an example of Linko90.

2. Everyone is now blaming evil GOG manager for being a heartless dick and Linko90 for no being woke enough, but not ResetEra trolls who did nothing wrong in their noble effort of thought policing.

This round is clearly a win for SJWs.

Oh, and the article is indeed a masterpiece! Author so masterfully portray Linko as both victim (who was so close to apology that could really convince the mob to let him alone) and potential villain (Linko didn't call GamerGate a mysoginist nazi movement - that means he can secretly being a nazi simpathiser).

That's true, but the problem is that most of us only have a problem with this when it's happening to us, or people we care about.

And notice how this article has zero complaints about the ResetEra doxxing. Slanted. Biased. Not real journalism.

And the same anti-intellectual argument, he expressed the same opinion of games journalism as Gamergate, so he must be a Gamergater. opposing illegal immigration which is also supported by Supremicists, makes you one. It's a dumb argument made by dumb people, which dumb people fall for. There are so many variations of this used in "journalism" today that one wonders what happened to our education system. Unless, they know what they are doing, and and are just doing it for the clicks.

It is very unfair to paint everyone who opposes illegal immigration as a racist. That's just not fair. There are certainly racists who oppose it, but there are lots of people who oppose it for other reasons. I would even hazard a guess that some racists support illegal immigration depending on the circumstances. Boiling down everyone who agrees on one issue as agreeing with it for the same reasons removes all nuance from the discussion, and the grey areas are usually the most important bits. It's in the grey areas that you can find consensus, which is usually the best, most just solution to a problem.

Did you read my post? I used that as one of the commonplace anti-intellectual arguments that are commonplace these days. Guilt by association. Have any opinion, compare someone to the worst imaginable group with the same opinion as an ad hominem attack distracting from the point of the argument.

Linko's years ago article about Anita Sarkeesian talked about questioning whether she and McIntosh really were gamers when they were complaining about violence in Doom. When someone attacks a classic game like that, it's hard to take them seriously about how they want to "fix" gaming. And makes one seriously consider other motives.

Hambly was banned for making a video criticising Cosplayers at Magic the Gathering events who were getting comped to appear, sign things for money, etc who seemed to be there just for sex appeal. Because his video went viral and some people had negative things to say to Ms. Sprinkle on Twitter, he was "banned for harassment".

Funny how these so-called journalists want to leave out all the context now isn't it?

Social media is all about the monetization of drama. No drama = no money, which is very, very bad. o.O

I read your post. I was supporting your comment. I know I don't usually see eye to eye with you and that may be the reason for the knee-jerk response, but I was commenting in support of what you said.

Linko was forced to quit from The Quartering because of constant ceaseless doxxes and harassment.

This is info for those who actually care about another human being. Those of you who want to yuk it up can keep it to yourselves.

I care for what happens to Linko and wouldn't want him to end up as moderator in a forum by twatwaffles, for twatwaffles. Targeting family and friends of not even public figures is never a solution to the problem, and it's to be condemned wholesale.

However, the constant linking to "The Quartering" videos as a valid source of information is hilarious in this context. The host has himself led a merciless targeted harassment campaign via that exact channel that led to a cosplayer ending her career, just a year ago. He never apologized yet proceeded to rile up people to even more harrassment because Magic the Gathering refused to have anything to do with the little shit for the rest of his life. He gleefully participated in the "I wouldn't even rape you" human garbage harassment contest on twitter.

If Jeremy Hambly cries wolf now?

He can just go to hell.

Quite apparently, Linko himself is howling with the wolves already. Sadly he adopted far right terminology on The Quartering's Discord chat immediately – terminology that on this forum he clearly sought out to identify the very extremists that he booted. This of course also utterly betrays the notion of an "apolitical" chat. He's playing the bigoted game of his employer now. Which is a sad and sudden end point to my former respect for the man.

Naturally I formally withdraw my reconsideration as to whether I'd want him back or not. That doesn't mean that I absolve the GOG suits of any wrongdoing. Linko could have continued doing a great job over here had he been allowed to post his real apologies. He was on a good path, which GOG has ended, and his present downfall and swift moral corruption is to a way too large part the fault of those suits.

And of couse him being a leader of harassment campaign is confirmed by a real valid source.</sarcasm>

tinyE: Man, people in here really must hate left handed guitar players!
Sorry, you confuse lefties (left-handed people) and leftists (US political left bigots and hypocrites). However, I agree with you - those terms are indeed too similar, so it's better to call latter SJWs. To avoid confusion.

I just looked up my purchase list in GOG and realized that in two days it will be two years since I've spent a cent buying anything from GOG.

Keep allying with far left authoritarians. You're making my decision on where to spend my money easy.
Call.me stupid, but all this thrash politics, generated by some worthless twits supposedly offending some useless social movements about something... On a damn crap videogame store forum.

This is all 101% wrong.
Left, right, up and down.

I can understand getting pissed off by the new crap website or DRM vs No DRM and similar rubbish.
Everything else is just sooo superflous, pretentious and ridiculous that is unbelievable.
