Am I the most frugal person on GoG?
How many of those games have you finished? That would be an interesting data as well.

Cambrey: How many of those games have you finished? That would be an interesting data as well.
Well that is based on personal preference more than quality of the game.
I prefer roleplay and strategy over shooters or puzzles games, therefore I may not finish an otherwise quality game.
I would estimate that about 250 of the games I own are fully playable and have replay value for me.
That would place a price of about $12 each for the games I really enjoy, which is still a good value.
Unlikely, because you spent > $3000 USD total in games. There are some users here who get by on entirely on free games or those on giveaway.

Cambrey also has a point. If you haven't played a majority of your games, money was spent - not saved. I think a better metric is weighted average of $/hr entertainment spent. If you spent $3000, but only put in 1000 hours so far, then that's $3/hr, which is double of a $60 game with 40 hours of playtime.

True. Buying something on sale that you don't use is not savings.

Galaxy logs my time played as 2350 hours, but that does not include all the time I played offline outside of Galaxy which I didn't always launch. But even with 2350 hours you can see I have gotten my monies worth.

Spent: $635 CAD or $512 USD

# Paid Games: 103
$ / game: $6.16 CAD/game or $4.97 USD/game

# hours played: 470
$ / hr: $1.35 CAD/hr or $1.09 USD/hr

Looks like I'm better compared to your $1.29 USD/hr played. ;)

That's certainly a good value for you.

My purpose of this thread is twofold.
I am curious about the spending history of others using this service, specifically in regards to the statistics I provided.
Also, an example that quality and quantity can be achieved without spending top dollar. Be patient, wait for sales, take advantage of giveaways, and avoid false hype of new releases like Cyberpunk.
Unfortunately it is evident that GoG has strayed from it's original goal of offering older quality games at modest prices, to pursue newer releases at rip off prices.
I actually have a spreadsheet that goes as far back as 1985 for all of the games I own. Super nerd shit :)
I did not factor the games and arcade units I've bought and sold because in the end, I came out on top by a lot so it would put me in the negative with spending. Below are all the currently owned games I own on GOG alone.

Total games owned in total = 69

Total games owned on GOG = 47

Total games owned that were free = 15

Total games gifted to me = 14

Total game purchases using GRC/Gpay = 6

Total game purchased using cash = 12

Highest amount paid for a game = $7.49

Total GOG games I've completed = 44/47

Average price paid per GOG game = $6.05

My average gaming budget per year is $9.73

Amount spent on games from 1985 to 2021 = $340.57

Amount of cash-back/rebates/reward from spending = $132.18

Final total amount spent as of 06/25/21 going back to 02/11/85 = $208.38

I don't think that's special, I've never ever spent more than 20 Euros on a game here (only a few more than 15 Euros, vast majority below 10 Euros).
Hmm, I bet you have too many games. Even I have some I haven't played yet.
I never liked this paid $/hr played efficiency stat. Clearly some games worth more $/playtime than others as they offer unique experience or very well polished vs the masses of cheap games.

Hard to get played time anyway as maybe 1/3rd time is only catched by galaxy.

So if you like the game and can afford it why not spend the extra , that should be fine.
But buying games and never play em is wrong.

This is very fair criticism. What do you think about $/(hr main content) based on stats from https://www.howlongtobeat.com? This removes completionists and games with lots of optional padding from skewing their data. Or even $/(hr main content) for completed games?

Another metric I thought about was $/(game size) to measure value. A game with voice acting and lots of HD assets at 1.7GB for $7 presents significantly more production value than a 100MB game with no voice acting and pixel-based assets for $3.

Or are there better ways of measuring frugality? It certainly isn't as easy to answer as cost per wear for clothes.

Games Owned (GOG): 290
Average Price Paid: too lazy to figure it out
Highest amount paid for a game: $60 for Cyberpunk, though technically, I purchased a physical copy via Best Buy and activated on GOG; my highest direct purchase here was $30 for The Outer Worlds (during the Children of Morta Visa promo, thus I got over $80 worth of games for $30)

Some other statistics (thanks to GOG Galaxy 2.0)...

Games owned (total): 1202
Achievements (total): 1418
Hours played (total): 7409 (though I have much, much more due to my pre-Galaxy days and the ~16 years and ~6000 hours I've played RuneScape)

I thought I had a decent collection of 416 games. You have an amazing collection sir.
Games :1416
Loads of full price games, SS4, pathfinder, M&B etc.
That’s up to nov 2020 when I stopped purchasing. Unfortunately GOG no longer wants custom like mine. No interest in fixing or sorting out issues which have been around for years. Only interested in the galaxy/online new wave of customers.
