Theta_Sigma: I don't know if they are a troll, or just genuinely that ignorant. Considering I can think off hand about 10 anime series that don't remotely involve that stereotype.

Also, now I want a pineapple upside down cake now. >.< FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED me, Seymour!

Elmofongo: Does Neon Genesis Evangelion and Blood+ fall in that category?
As I have never watched Blood+ and can only recall the OAV of Evangelion, I really can't make any type of logical evaluation for, or against those. I was more referring to things like Trigun, Hellsing Ultimate (Seras Victoria not withstanding), Claymore, Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Gungrave, Vampire Hunter D/Bloodlust, Space Captain Harlock, Space Battleship Yamato, etc...

bansama: 2. The old technical reason was that different inks were more expensive than others. Black ink, for example was very expensive -- so most anime had few African/African American, or whatever the PC term in your country is, characters. Standard "flesh" tones were cheaper than the more tinted ones, which is probably why, most characters would appear to be "white" to you.

That said, the same skin tones appear "Japanese" to Japanese. Japanese aren't really "yellow" as old US propaganda would have had people believe anyhow. That's all I'll say on the subject though as it can be a rather heated one, depending on those taking part.
Actually I have been wondering the same thing as Elmofongo, although not because of the skin colour, but the faces, mainly the eyes. Those giant eyes make them look like anything but Asian.

(Where does this thing about Asians being yellow even come from? Skin colour ranges from white to brown, but not yellow. Unless you would also call Hispanics yellow)
i personally love anime...........but lately i feel the quality for most has gone down.

Many openings having generic sounding J-Pop (well, i consider almost J-Pop terrible, but whatever)
Recycled Plot Points
Recycled Character personalities (i really want Tsunderes to go away, i hated them the first time i saw them, i hate them to degrees you cannot fathom)
Moe.......seriously, i hate Moe as much as i hate the sodding Tsunderes........which is ALOT.

JRPGs tend to be guilty of these to.

The movie was an Anime masterpiece heck the whole series never used anime tropes all the time like everyone falling down because of something stupid or again in the same situation having that sweat drop on the back of thier head and most importantly not making stupid faces.

And Kemono no souja Erin or Seirei no Moribito, to pick a couple with wonderful female leads. But of course, as you say, there's also this stuff...

Oh worse, both protaginist and love interest are tsundere to each other, goodness I hate that so much.

like i said, never to return.
I like anime(not in general though, some of it good and others are terrible like anything else).

Anyone who thinks they hate anime in general should try watching something like Monster. Not all of it has lolis, giant robots, and spiky hair.

Crosmando: Reading the manga is the only way to experience Hellsing. The OVA's (Hellsing Ultimate) have some cool fight scenes, but yes as a whole they are very boring, you can tell basically they have to make each OVA 40 minutes long, adapt a part of the manga, and on a limited budget, so what you get is these really long "speeches" as I call them by the characters, it's so obvious they do it to string out the episodes as long as possible.
I can't agree here, if someone hates Hellsing Ultimate they will not enjoy the manga. It's a pretty faithful adaptation.

Master911: I still watch it a fair bit, there are some many different stories and Genres.

I earliest Anime series i saw was Teknoman/Tekkaman Blade which was dubbed when they changed character Names Noal became Ringo and Aki became Star

then Bubblegum Crisis and Neon Genesis Evangelion (Which most of the Story went over my head the first time i saw it)

Theta_Sigma: I still have the DVD box set of Tekkaman Blade (subbed). I loved the series, I never watched the dub though. I heard they didn't finish the series in English.
The series was Dubbed in English twice with the American Dub and the International Dub except the American version was stopped at about Halfway it is possible to purchase the Int'l Version on DVD

I used to watch it every morning before school

I'll have to look for it then, I really wanted to see the series in dub. Thank you. :)
Anime is great, I still prefer it over most Western style animated films/TV series

AKIRA was the first serious anime I saw, it just blew me away. Since then I've seen a lot of great anime. I'll just name a few since the list is so immense.

Kidou Senshi Gundam 0079
Kidou Senshi Gundam 0079 08th MS Team
Kidou Senshi Gundam F91
Kidou Senshi Gundam Turn A
MONSTER
Black Lagoon
Ergo Proxy
Darker Than Black
Venus Wars
Cowboy Bebop
Riding Bean
Oh My Goddess (sometime listed as "Ah")
Ranma 1/2
Beautiful Days (S Korea)
Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies)
Full Metal Panic
Macross
Macross 0

They didn't finish the english dub. Was very disappointed how it just ended with no resolution. They pulled the same thing with Exo-Squad, major cliffhanger (though not an anime per-se)

Ah dang, yeah they did that with D. Gray-Man's dub which is sad because it was a rather good series. At least they finished the last arc of the dub, rather than leave as much lack of resolution. :(
Only comment is, its addictive & everyone have their favorites.
