Dave_Scoffin: i'd also say check out the Cine Asia website and look at the upcoming release 71 Into The Fire, that looks pretty damn epic
Nice one.... not going to get that yet but I've just grabbed Invisible Target and Kill Zone.... as they're cheap at the moment, neither look particularly epic but both look enjoyable.

I wasn't a fan of Cloverfield (prefer The Host) or Leon and I have Star Trek as a HD download on my PS3 :)
neither are particularly epic, but definitely brutal in places and both very very good, i've got both myself

Roman5: I really reccomend "Leon"

Great movie and especially great on Blu-ray, I reccomend it to everyone, regardless of what movies you are into

I remember watching it years ago and just recently saw it again on Blu-ray, it's amazing
Bloody great movie. I think I only owned an international version of it because the original US cut was in fullscreen and I prefer the films in their original aspect ratio.

I remember I saw this movie when I was 10, 11 and I was so blown away. When I revisited it few years ago, I was so impressed by how well it held up over the years, unlike the other movies. Great great great stuff.
Another one that enjoyed Speed Racer :D

Pirates of the Caribbean was rather impressive looking. Wall-E was too, actually. But you gotta have all the Toy Stories.

serpantino: LOL I actually have that, just didn't think of classing it as epic. It is one hell of a stunner though and..... *looks around* I like it too.

Make that three of us. Sure it's like pouring melted skittles into your eyes, but it's just plain fun. :D

Cambrey: Hero.
I seem to remember the blu-ray transfer of this being horrible. On par with the first release of the the Stargate movie.

Really ? What a shame. Hopefully there is a newer BR version.
The Thin Red Line is one of the ones I'm waiting for; it's been out in America for well over a year and still hasn't graced the UK (next month I think but I won't buy it until it's £10 or under)
Maybe it's just me, but the Star Trek bluray made the lens flair annoying. So bright, so overwhelming.
Blade Runner 5-disc set is the best damn blu-ray ever. Sure I might be biased because it's my favorite movie, but the transfer is literally perfection and the extras are piled to the ceiling.

Not from what I've seen (granted I haven't looked too hard). I'd personally love to own this but if the picture looks worse than an upscaled DVD there's very little point (the audio was the same as the DVD if I remember correctly).
Oh, and by the way, if you REALLY want to know what an "epic film" stands for, go get Conan the Barbarian and John Boorman's Excalibur. Those were the days, those were the heroes, and those were the great epic filmmakers (Conan was directed by John Milius, written by Oliver Stone and scored by Basil Poledouris, you wouldn't see a combination like this in decades...)

*Edit: nevermind, Conan isn't available in Blu-ray... yet.

I have them both on dvd... they're not that epic :P
I highly recommend Chow Yun Fat's older movies; prison on fire, story of ah long, a better tomorrow just to name a few.

Also, you might be interested in little big soldier. Not really that epic, but found it pretty decent.
For some good kungfu, jackie chan's drunken master series is really good. His police story films are also entertaining.
