GOG is perpetually stuck in a groundhog day.

"I AM A GOD!"
"you're god?"
"No, I'm A god, not THE god."
"Ray...next time someone asks if you're a god...you say...YES!"

Sorry, couldn't resist, I love those movies.

WHAAAAT??!?!?!
'O' in GOG now stands for the Story of 'O'
it's disappointing to log on and see that the only new releases are indie titles that are already available everywhere else.

but that doesn't happen that often

Not just groundhog day, some editing is also back to the future, replying to comments that haven't been posted yet! Really confusing ... :D

Zannis77: Semantics, I know, but it used to be exciting to log in once a week to find out what classic was on the new release tab. Now, I just see a bunch of games that I've never heard of, all recent games, and it's slowly eroding my excitement for the site.
That's been happening to me for four years now... but then they release another awesome game I've been waiting to see -- like the Quest for Glory series -- and my faith is restored. In reality, there aren't too many old games I'm still waiting to see anymore. Mostly, I'm waiting for the day they sign Disney (LucasArts) and the floodgates open up again...

QC: A couple dozen classics a day..... How old is this site? Tarm, he's dated joining at 2008. Assume they started like that and released "SEVERAL DOZEN A DAY" for even two weeks, that's already 1/4th of all the games that have ever been released on this website out of 4 years ahead of it. Now compound 52 weeks a year and two releases a week as being the minimum, you've made up the entire website. I think you're exaggerating there.

Adzeth: That's how it's now, but the site was amazing back then.
That's right. None of this newfangled "Math" and "Logic" they have these days... young whippersnappers...
GoG have mentioned Lucasarts(Disney), Microsoft and Take Two as their most wanted publishers to sign and those would be welcome additions that could bring several more classics. But personally I'd love to see them sign ZeniMax Media for getting id and Bethesda games. That too could add some classics.

Zannis77: CDPR would do better in developing a sister site that focuses on Newer releases that get 'retired' to GOG upon hitting a certain age.

serpantino: That would've been what was best for us customers
No, because I don't necessarily want to visit two different sites for my GoG games, regardless whether they are old(?) or new(?). To me that suggestions sounds about as silly as saying that Steam should come up with a separate service and client for indie games, to separate them from the AAA titles that Steam also sells.

It just doesn't make much sense for a digital store to disperse their games to several services.

I don't mind though if GOG would improve its current filters so that people can weed out the kind of games they don't want to see, e.g. only showing games made before 2000, or whatever. The granularity of the current filters (by year) is not there yet.

If they wanted to have everything on one site then they should've incorporated it into the site update. Given how close the facelift was to the release of newer games it's strange how they didn't bother (and still haven't bothered.) I'd have been happy enough with that if it had some segregation as you say (I mentioned it in my previous post too.)

The key difference with steam is I can make an indie category on my games list and have my indie games under it if I want, or under their gametype etc, unlike the gog shelf.
Gog started out advertising and pushing hard as an old game collector's site and people like to be able to organise their collections. At the moment gog is destined to become the same disorganised mess that gamersgate is.

xy2345: I'm actually very pleased with the current situation. We get at least the same constant stream of "old" releases (and that is proof that the "o" hasn't been forgotten) as we did in the past and we also get newer games that I wouldn't otherwise have a chance to play because I won't play games that have to be activated on line.
I too like the good, the old and the indie. :P
