I want to try something a little different with this. I have a game to gift out that is an rpg (obviously)from the GOG catalog. The way I want to play this is simple give me a list of rpg games you've been wanting to try I'll take the first couple people who have it rated high up on their list(wishlist) and probably use random to decide unless has it as number 1 by chance. This could roll for a while so I'll provide a small hint. It isn't a massively popular game of the genre like lets say baldurs gate.Okay make up those lists! =D

I'd like to try the first Wasteland game, as well as Might & Magic VI, VII & VIII. Also, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. Oh, and Arx Fatalis, Darklands, and Return To Krondor.

Neat idea, plus one.

A couple that are on my 'maybe someday' list are:

Ishar
Lionheart Legacy of the Crusader
Nox
Anachronox
-Avadon 2
-Stonekeep
-Return to Krondor
-Ishar Compilation

I hope the game finds a good home :)

Jade Empire is the only I don't already own that I've been looking forward to getting my hands on. I've got several in my backlog that I own and haven't played yet.
My top (RPG) Wishlist: Divine Divinity, Arx Fatalis, Anvil of Down, Ultima Underworld I & II, and Realms of Arkania I & II.
Darklands - Heard very good things about this, not much else t osay.
Stonekeep - Kinda gives me an Ultima Underworld vibe, which I love.
Driftmoon - I played several games by the same developer which are really, really old and am interested in this.
NOT IN

Thanks for having this GA!
I'm in and my list is:

Darklands
Ultima underworld 1+2
Paper Sorcerer
Darkstone
I'd probably say.

Gothic 3
Beyond divinity
Aarklash
Inquisitor
Smugglers V
Heretic Kingdoms : inquisition

Nice GA, thanks!
My RPG wishlist, more or less in descending order of preference:

I'm in.... thanks!

My list would be:
Gothic 2
Divinity 2
M&M 7
Going by what GoG lists as RPG (and that has been released) for a top 5...

Starflight 1+2
Silver
Darklands
Shadowrun Returns
Gothic
I've pretty much gotten all my desired RPGs from gog, I guess what would be left is:

Anachronox
Jade Empire
Shadowrun Returns
Gothic 2

A bit of a side-question if nobody minds (I can start a new thread if necessary), but I was wondering about the RPGs on gog.
You might say the "Big Three" would be Baldur's Gate 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale 2? Or is it Fallout 2?
What would be the main points of each?
From my understanding, it is PT for the story, BG2 for the "RPGness" and ID2 for the mechanics?
Is that true?

Also, gog often has the "D&D collection" as a bundle in sales, but my problem with that is always the not bad, but less good games coupled with the great ones. I might be somewhat interested in Icewind Dale 2, but am not so sure about Temple of Elemental Evil or Dragonshard, for example.
What would you label as the necessary D&D games, excluding the ones that are less good, or overlapping?

Temple of Elemental Evil isn't really one of the bad ones. The remake of Pool of Radiance certainly is, though. ToEE is, in fact, the only good game of the "modern" D&D RPGs to truly use fully turn-based combat. The radial menu is pretty nice, too. So I'd say ToEE is worth picking up, especially if you'd like to see a fresh take on the UI.

Baldur's Gate and Planescape are probably the most "must-play" of the lot, though. Neverwinter Nights and NWN2 are both well done (though NWN2, by Obsidian, has the traditional Obsidian Flaw: better writing and story than the previous one, but so, so, buggy on release that it never gets a fair shake). If you get NWN2 make sure you get a version that has the Mask of the Betrayer and Storms of Zehir (over Zehir? whatever) expansions. The first, MotB, is maybe the best-written RPG since Planescape, and the second one changes up the gameplay of NWN2 enough that even after you've put 60-80 hours into it (main campaign + MotB expansion) you can still play another 20-30 hours for SoZ.

Fallout and Fallout 2, of course, while not D&D RPGs, are still some of the highlights of the cRPG genre - choice, customization, story, immersion. You can't go wrong with them unless you either don't like RPGs or can't get over the dated graphics.
