Oathe: The thing was I got it as a double pack with planescape torment. I had no expectations of it yet I played it for a few months straight.
OldFatGuy: Exact same thing here. It was in one of those two-fer deals in a single CD case. Bought it for Planescape: Torment and had never heard of Soulbringer. As it turned out, I enjoyed Soulbringer as much as I did Planescape: Torment. I enjoyed them both immensely.
In fact, Souldbringer will forever have a special place in my heart because during that whole month or two period that I played it, it was not long after becoming disabled and my sister's kids stayed with me and my family, and Steven, about 3 or 4 at the time, sat on my lap for hours and hours and hours and watched me play that game. Laughing, getting excited when combat would come up, in awe of the graphics, I just can't put into words how special that time was for me, especially at that time in my life. I'll never forget it.
That is an awesome memory to have from a game. I had a similar experience with a friend of the family's daughter. She was blown away by The Guild: Gold Her mom would come up to visit my wife, so her daughter would drag a chair in to the living room and watch me play the guild for hours and aw over the graphics.
Oathe: I want to try something a little different with this. I have a game to gift out that is an rpg (obviously)from the GOG catalog. The way I want to play this is simple give me a list of
rpg games you've been wanting to try I'll take the first couple people who have it rated high up on their list(wishlist) and probably use random to decide unless has it as number 1 by chance. This could roll for a while so I'll provide a small hint. It isn't a massively popular game of the genre like lets say baldurs gate.Okay make up those lists! =D
Coelocanth: Nice idea! Not in, but +1 for you and fair warning that I may steal this idea (or a variant) for the Hobbit's Birthday. :)
Go for it. I actually forgot I bought this to gift out, so when I came across it I knew I wanted someone that had actually been wanting to play it to win it. I thought this would be an interesting way it's a semi guessing gaming/hoping you have the right game on your list, and now I know for a fact someone will be genuinely pleased by the end of this. =D
