ChrisSD: How can you dumb down a point and click? It's not like the controls were complicated to start with.

Leroux: Yes, they were. :D
Agreed. Especially with Grim. I am always running into things..
I don't want to play it. I'll never play this "HD" marketed crap.

I do want the ORIGINAL that installs and runs well on modern computers... on GOG.

Sam & Max Hit The Road had more convoluted puzzles than the Telltale games.

Ah, the memories. :-)

Yeah, who the heck wants high resolution textures and an optional alternative control scheme?!

As long as they keep that scene with Glottis screaming "Manny, you pprrrooommiisseeddd" ...all will be joy
;)

I'm probably going to pick up the Vita version anyway. After that maybe I'll find a cheap copy of the PC version.

Considering that Double Fine doesn't own the IP, Disney does, I don't think they have a say in if the original comes to GOG or not. Go talk to the mouse, make sure to bring lots of cheese.
Although LucasArts games never had the Sierra Logic thing, for 10 years old me figuring out how to climb the building to feed the pidgeons was somewhat of a chore. Modern adventure games have easier puzzles. Let's hope this is just a graphic update, but a real one, not just a widescreen thing like Age of Empires 2.

Anyway, I'll still wait for it to be on GOG.
As it should be. Now release it on GOG.

They could do a modern/classic graphics option or something. I just hope they don't redo dialogue/character design and all that. I really want a re-release not a remake as much as possible, since I never played the original.

I recall Tim Schäfer saying something that it's going to be a remaster, not a remake, so it's unlikely there'll be a 'modern' graphics option. It'll most likely stick with the original pre-rendered backgrounds and low-poly models (which still look great even today).
This better be a point-and-click, because I have never finished the original due to the atrocious controls.

I don't see what all the fuss over the controls is about. This is the first game I ever played and it took me forever since I was a novice but it fueled my love of adventure games. So they took some getting used to...I didn't even know what 'point and click' was back then...but once I knew what I was doing, the controls were easy enough to deal with and I would be damned if I was going to quit this fascinating story until I knew how it played out. Grim Fandango is still my favorite game and I go back to it every year or two just to relive it.

Anyway, considering the speed at which Double Fine gets anything done, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a remaster.
Just a quick note - there have been quite a few re-releases of old games recently - most notably Microsoft's strategy games - Age of Kings, Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations. All of them were simply an HD remastered version, playable on modern systems, nothing more. This is the cheapest possible way to re-release these games, so I doubt that anyone would do a remake, i.e. changing interface, story, characters, voice overs, etc. - which would be quite more expensive.

So let's leave out the needless speculation - what we are getting is Grim Fandango with modern graphics, that's all. To be fair, the odds are it will be released on Steam only, but one can only hope.
