Leroux: Wow. Just wow. Kudos to EA for releasing a more recent BioWare title here on GOG, DRM- and Origin-free!
Origin didn't even exist when this game was made and released.

and no, contrary to popular belief, EA does NOT make old games Origin-dependent.

jamyskis: (Also, only one release again today?)

JMich: Don't forget MagRunners yesterday. Not sure if you count it as release or not.
We generally don't count pre-orders towards the number of releases, otherwise we'd had to count them twice ;-)
Woohoo!

Hey, I'm just adding the pages to the Wiki. Thus I count it when it appears on the catalogue, not when it's available to download.
What is the "Special Edition" adding to the original release? Is it graphically enhanced ?

But you do anyway... Remember Reus? ;p
Anyone know what engine this game uses?

Edit: I found out it uses the Odyssey Engine.

Indeed. I'm more curious as to when EA will start releasing stuff that otherwise needed Origin (and when Ubisoft will start releasing stuff that otherwise needed UPlay).

I think it started pretty late with EA? Crysis 2/Dragon Age 2 I believe?

RS1978: Jade Empire came always without DRM and Origin. Its only copy protection was a disc check. But of course it's good to see it here on GOG. :)
avatar
Leroux: Disc check is not DRM, but it isn't as free as DRM-free either - so far this is the first EA owned BioWare game I hear of that's been released in a truly DRM- and copy protection free state, or am I mistaken?
No, I think you're right and it would be great if we could see more of these soon - without disc check, without DRM and without Origin.

KoolZoid: Absolutely loved this game when it came out! Reckon it should still hold up well.

One thing - does anyone know what's 'Special' about this Special Edition (GOG-goodies not withstanding)? I have the XBox Collector's Edition (with the shiny inlay and the 'Furious Wang' character or whatever his name was) - is it different to that?

I'll probably cave within the next hour or so and just buy it anyway though..... :)
Special Edition is the only name the PC version ever had as it was a port. I think it has that extra character and perhaps some other stuff. But I can't remember. Check Wikipedia ;)

Methinks it refers to improvement from original Xbox game release.
This looks awesome :D Wishlisted.
Nice release. Good that i have it on disc or i would be tempted to buy it....something i can't due to the size and my
sucky i-connection.
Niiiiice :)
