15,504 ways to play!

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Once the holiday season gets closer, you have to decide what gifts to buy, what wrapping to use, which phone numbers to accidentally delete. There are many decisions to make as you get ready for the holidays, but one decision that we’re making easy for you is, “Should I buy anything from GOG.com’s Black Friday sale?” (The answer is “yes”, by the way. ;) Not only are we launching the sale early--in case you spend Friday in a turkey-induced coma--but we’re also giving you the power to pick your own promo!

In our Pick 5 & Pay $10 sale you pick 5 out of twenty fantastic indie games and pay $10 for them regardless of the game’s regular full price. That's $2 per game, for such titles like Torchlight, Resonance, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Botanicula, Geneforge 1-5, Uplink, To the Moon, and many others. Seven of these games are both PC and Mac compatible, so everyone can enjoy!

The games are fantastic--and there are so many of them! That's why we started this sale early: to give you time to pick your dream-set of 5 games out of 15,504 possible combinations. You could look at this as another decision you have to make this year, but unlike trying to figure out who you should sit next to your slightly crazy uncle at Thanksgiving dinner, this one’s fun!

Black Friday marks the start of the “shopping season” for the holidays, so don’t forget to buy the gift of GOG for a gamer you love--or even just kind of like. You can’t spread much more holiday joy than this for just $10.
Alright I'm getting the Wadjet Eye releases. And it looks like Spacechem to go with those. That leaves one left. Too bad FTL wasn't in this promo. I already own the Introversion games and I think I have a copy of Trine. Also, I own Geneforge(which I happen to like). So, that leaves:

Torchlight
Machinarium
Botanicula
To the Moon

The others don't seem like they would interest me much.
oh damn you GOG! and once again you took my money;P Great promo and there was exactly 5 games i really wanted to have:) Keep up the great work.

DaCostaBR: Have you ever heard of a game called Auditorium? It's a puzzle music game that might be more your style. Here's a gameplay video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XRK85U3hyg

I'll admit I could be a little biased, I'm a sucker for puzzle games with somekind of twist to them. In any case you can play a demo on their website http://www.playauditorium.com/ so if you have 5 minutes free at least give it a shot.
That does look very cool. I might check it out.

I haven't finished it yet, but from what I've played Gemeni Rue is really fantastic story-driven adventure game. You might consider checking it out, if you like P&C adventures.

Darn... there are exactly 6 games that caught my eye...

Looks like I'll have to choose between Alan Wake and Torchlight... any suggestions? :>
Uplink is on my wishlist since the release. But unfortunately, nothing else interests me.
Still, a very nice promo!

I recommend Torchlight, longer playing time, great rpg. For Alan though, maybe wait till the other game goes on sale and nab it along with American Nightmare?
I really want to get Resonance but I have most of the games already :( Pity I can't just get 1 single game.

Wow, I must admit I wasn't expecting to see this calibre of games when I read the title of the sale. Completely broke so I'll pass this time but amazing - wonder what the Christmas sales will be like?

Yeah, I have it and do like it. Picking it up here as well with the other Wadjet Eye games. I think my final pick will be Torchlight though. Since I don't own it and what I have played and seen of it made me not really care about it, but maybe I didn't give it a fair chance.
I was just reading through the last few pages of this thread. It appears that gifting is possible? I don't suppose anyone somehow coincidentally want just 4 games? I am really hoping to get just Gemini (for $2) as I have most of the rest (off GOG alas).

Dizzard: edit: Could you gift one of the games if you didn't want it?
avatar
Miaghstir: No, if you choose to get the purchase as a giftcode, you get one code that's valid for all the games in that purchase. However, if you pick one or more games that you already have, you can redeem the code yourself and the code will still be valid for the games you already had, then someone else can redeem those.
This bundle is full of games that I already have because of steam sales or bundles but never would have bought otherwise.
Trine Genoforge, Mutand Mudds and Torchlight are the exceptions ( I still ahve them ( I still have them think they are actually worth it).

tfishell: Are you sure? I suppose it's possible, but I have a hard time imagining this. I'd still suggest the "different people and different opinions = arguments" idea is valid. Take screenshots to document these contradictions. ;-)

mondo84: Sorry, I haven't been taking screenshots during the last year or so when these discussions come up. I don't need to win an e-argument that badly. :)
That's a good thing, as e-arguments aren't usually that important. :P It just seems to be a topic you bring up a lot (no offense).

Well it's essentially a Diablo-clone (except made by the Diablo folks, so... maybe a super-clone?) so if you don't like that style of action rpg, you probably won't be able to get into it. However I greatly enjoyed it despite it having some kinda weird scaling at high levels. It's by far the best Diablo-clone I've ever played from the combat perspective, with Divine Divinity being the best Diablo-clone from the story/RPG aspect.

However, of the games you've listed it's the best, unless you REALLY like point&click games. I thought the gameplay in Machinarium was downright bad (though the game was beautiful and wonderfully atmospheric) and Botanicula wasn't that much better on that front. I haven't played To the Moon but its main selling point appears to be that it makes you cry.

Well, seeing these threads constantly devolve into the same argument over and over gets a little tiring. So all I'm doing is pointing out the silliness of them so we can actually talk about the games and promos instead of speculating on GOG's motives.

I didn't realize I bring it up frequently. I guess I'm "that guy" now.

Well it's certainly up to you how you want to react. Personally, I think that the best way for something to die out is to simply ignore it, so that people realize they aren't "getting" to others. That may not work here, though, and if your method is indeed working, it's certainly your prerogative to continue pointing out the silliness.

LOL you've thought about this deeply.

It doesn't bother me, but I guess I'm just adding my two cents to the discussion which comes up a few times per week. If others can realize the discussion goes nowhere, then it'll die down. But people seem to take the bait on some of the comments that come up frequently. You're right, people should ignore these things.

Back to the games now...
