keeveek: WE have to add Morrowind?

Ask Bethesda why Morrowind isn't on GOG.com yet.
It's because Todd Howard signed a blood pack with Gabe Newell. The future of Bethesda is tied to the Future of Steam. Skyrim was the first major non-Valve title to use the Steam Workshop, look for future Bethesda titles to more deeply entwine itself in Steam. We have about as much a chance of seeing an Elder Scrolls game here as we would seeing the Half-Life games on GOG.
I can't find my Morrowind CD, so.. It needs to be on gog.com
If GOG can't manage to get Morrowind soon, I'd settle for Daggerfall in the meantime. Just remember to cheat teleport to the objective in all dungeons and then try to find your way out. It's a lot more fun and a lot less hair pulling. Anyone who has traipsed through those massive dungeons will know what I mean.

cogadh: For me FPS+RPG=Fail, so I won't be voting for it.
Were you thinking of Fallout 3 and New Vegas maybe?

Morrowind is not an FPS at all.
The funny thing that me and one of my friends used to laugh about in morrowind was the crime system. I could steal something from a merchant in balmora and travel to the other side of the island in an instant and a guard would know that i stole someone's food from half way across the world. How does he know that someone's underwear was stolen, did he use a telephone and or email the guy on the other end.

Guard throws turd all the way across morrowind. Other guard catches turd, smells the shit and replies: "I knew it!"

Dude, I wrote that over three years ago. You think I can remember what I was thinking when I posted a one line comment on a forum that long ago? The only thing I can assume is that I (still) don't like first-person perspective RPGs, which Morrowind most definitely is (it does have a third person option). Ironically in the meantime, I have been given Morrowind on Steam, though I haven't played it at all yet.

EDIT - I should probably clarify a little bit. I have enjoyed some first-person RPGs, like Vampire Bloodlines and the Deus Ex games, but I have yet to find a sword and sorcery RPG that isn't a steaming pile and/or totally awkward in its controls. That is most likely where I was coming from three years ago.

Morrowind is surely the bestest.

Oops! Sorry! I completely missed how old this thread was.

I really enjoyed Morrowind and hope you do too if you decide to try it.

This is sad but probably true. You'd more likely see them release it for free in a few years as they did with Arena & Daggerfall. Speaking of Morrowind though that reminds I have to go rescue my mods from Fileplanet.

How could you not remember your exact thought process on any given date in the past several years??!!?

If you have Morrowind I encourage you to give it a good honest try, you need to get several hours into it to really see it for what it is. I don't know what Firts Person Sword/Spell games you have tried in the past but I can tell you that the controls for Morrowind are much better than something like, lets say Gothic. With the big exception of the leveling system I find the gameplay in the rest of Morrowind to be about perfect. At least perfect enough that just a mod or two will get it there.

Umm... I said "one of the" not "the".... read before you post.
I used to play Skyrim until I took an arrow... ah, screw it - aerial Morrowind
Can anyone explain to me why everyone wants to see daggerfall here? It's already been released on dosbox for free. I am pretty sure GOG wouldn't add anything to the game. If anything all the people here should be support the engineXL project.

We have been over this many times

We want Arena and Daggerfall here because:

- It would add more value to the Free library of GOG games
- More people would play them and they would get more attention
- GOG'ified versions means simple installation and quickly jumping into playing
- Extra goodies for free
- The first 2 free ES games being here for free would mean a complete Elder Scrolls collection when other ES games are released here, this would give people a bigger incentive to buy Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim from GOG

That's one of the things I really love about this game, it's customizability and the ability to play however you want

Oblivion and Skyrim went so, so much downhill in terms of this
