I'd like to share three memories.
One, as little kid, playing Gauntlet 2 (I think it was Gauntlet 2, but maybe it was Gauntlet 3 or 1) with a friend, both of us rolling on the floor laughing because we couldn't help killing each other.
The second, when I bought my first PC after I found a freelance job and I needed a computer to work from home. I also bought a game: Baldur's Gate 2. Mind you, I hadn't played a computer game since my Spectrum days. And I didn't keep up with gaming at all. I didn't have consoles either. To me games were still that monochrome mess of the old days. And then I experienced Baldur's Gate 2... I couldn't believe it: it was a game that contained a whole civilization, where you could fall in love, and spend days and days exploring its cities. I was hooked for months, and I know that no game will ever fascinate me so.
The third one: I was a kid, maybe 10 or 11 years old. I had suffered a foot injury, so I had to wear a cast and use crutches. It was excruciating: I couldn't walk properly, I couldn't run, and, of course, I couldn't play soccer or basketball. One day my mother and I went to the doctor. I was very happy; as it was the day I was going to have the cast removed. Unfortunately, after seeing the X-Rays, the doctor decided that I needed to keep the cast for 15 more days. I was devastated. How sad... Going back home, my mother disappeared a moment and came back with a videogame she just purchased: it was Athena, for my Spectrum. I had read reviews of that game, and knew it wasn't especially good; anyway, a videogame was not what I wanted at all at that moment: I just wanted to be able to walk and run... But I saw the hopeful and sad expression of my mother, who didn't want to see me suffering, and I understood that she was doing all she could... I have fond memories of that mediocre game up to this day.
