In for Tex Murphy UaKM! It's on sale :)

Fave vidya gaming memory: I remember squealing in joy the moment I saw fallout 2 in stores. Back then I didn't really read the gaming press, internet wasn't as developed as it is now and the information was in magazines which were pretty costly. The people around me looked at me funny, but I didn't care. I brought that home and the rest is history.

MoP: Speaking of boozing... one of the most nostalgic games for me is Broken Sword 2, which I'd played as a wee lad, largely with my mother. Every time I'd get stuck, she'd be my hint system, and needles to say, I'd get stuck a lot. The one 'puzzle' I remember most fondly is SPOILER ALERT the guy in the gallery you had to booze up with absinthe. Got to the point of pouring it into his glass, but after the first try, which didn't have much effect, I was sure I'd been missing something and was ready to leave. Then she just said "come on, pour him some more" with all the conviction in the world, and I was amazed, I mean how'd she know more booze would knock him off his feet?

In for the 5.99 gog, thank You for the nostalgic giveaway!
nothing beats boozing and brawling in witcher, or boozed running crazy and fighting thugs lol the blur effect
Thanks for the generous giveaway!

I'd like to share three memories.

One, as little kid, playing Gauntlet 2 (I think it was Gauntlet 2, but maybe it was Gauntlet 3 or 1) with a friend, both of us rolling on the floor laughing because we couldn't help killing each other.

The second, when I bought my first PC after I found a freelance job and I needed a computer to work from home. I also bought a game: Baldur's Gate 2. Mind you, I hadn't played a computer game since my Spectrum days. And I didn't keep up with gaming at all. I didn't have consoles either. To me games were still that monochrome mess of the old days. And then I experienced Baldur's Gate 2... I couldn't believe it: it was a game that contained a whole civilization, where you could fall in love, and spend days and days exploring its cities. I was hooked for months, and I know that no game will ever fascinate me so.

The third one: I was a kid, maybe 10 or 11 years old. I had suffered a foot injury, so I had to wear a cast and use crutches. It was excruciating: I couldn't walk properly, I couldn't run, and, of course, I couldn't play soccer or basketball. One day my mother and I went to the doctor. I was very happy; as it was the day I was going to have the cast removed. Unfortunately, after seeing the X-Rays, the doctor decided that I needed to keep the cast for 15 more days. I was devastated. How sad... Going back home, my mother disappeared a moment and came back with a videogame she just purchased: it was Athena, for my Spectrum. I had read reviews of that game, and knew it wasn't especially good; anyway, a videogame was not what I wanted at all at that moment: I just wanted to be able to walk and run... But I saw the hopeful and sad expression of my mother, who didn't want to see me suffering, and I understood that she was doing all she could... I have fond memories of that mediocre game up to this day.

My favourite memory was with Sonic 3 when it plug into Sonic and knuckles and you play both titles at once, and getting to play as Hyper Sonic/Knuckles from the power of the master Emeralds as well the added advantage of being able to play as knuckles in Sonic 2 .

Did any other games have the ability to combine the Cartridges and changed the way the games would play

Thanks for the Giveaway (5.99 Game of Choice Entry Here)
I have plenty of great videogame related memories.

I remember one time in Ultima Online when my guild was at war with a larger guild. That larger guild was having a bad loosing streak, and moral was down among its members, so we were supposed to basically give them a victory.
Of course this was something that only the guild leaders knew. The plan for us was to do a pincer move (something that is not all that useful in UO. It can work, but splitting up is generally speaking a bad idea), we would attack from the front, and another group would attack from behind. I was picked to lead the group attacking from the front, and being totally unaware of the actual goal of the fight, I decided to try to guess when the other group would actually arrive, and thus held back my force until I thought the other group would have the chance to move into position.
What happened was that I perfectly guessed when they would arrive, and even though the other guild was nearly twice our numbers, the seemingly well coordinated attack gave their weaker targets (mages and such) nowhere to run. We had pulled off the perfect pincer move, by mistake, and had beaten almost twice our number of players.

The other guild leader was very upsett, thinking that we had in fact planed this all along, but I could not help but feel proud over how well we managed to pull off the attack.

Or one of the times when we've just gathered a group of people, in order to play Bomberman & Mario Kart together. Not a single one of those have been a disappointment, though it has more to do with the people than with the games.

I'm interested in the $5.99 game(s).

Mairy Kirstmiss! Thank you for the giveaway!

I'm sure I wasn't the only kid who did this.. The sneaky late night gaming sessions.. I snuck out of bed at night when parents are fast asleep.. With the light off and the sound turned down, I could enjoy a couple of hours of extra gaming time before returning to bed or getting caught (and my gaming privilege revoked for a week)..
I remember when I first played Dune 2, never played anything like that before that, and I got hooked. I completed the three houses in a few days and then I replayed it several times.

I enter for a $5.99 game, thanks ellynandroid

QC: Thanks for the giveaway good sir, I'm in to try and get Witcher 2 if okay. My favorite videogame memory, it has to be playing "The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind." Just, the very first time I had ever stepped out into the game and started exploring, I was immersed at first step.

ellynandroid: No worries!

And normally I wouldn't even bother pointing it out (and it's not like I have a problem being called it, really), but I'm not a sir. :P

Also, thanks djranis for the extra boozy bump!
Oh, my apologies then. Habit I think, but thank you anyway for the chance.

Hey, it's no biggie! :)
My favorite memory has to be when in high school we used to make "boys' days" at a friend's summer house during vacations. 10 friends eating pizza, playing soccer and of course video games all day until we can no more. So sad now we barely talk to each other.

In for The Witcher 2. Thanks for your generosity.
Entering for the $5.99 game.

My favorite gaming memory...probably spending an entire Sunday, 6am-8pm, playing Shining Force 2. I loved that game so much.
Going for The Witcher 2.

It is late 2000. That week I had been in and out of the doctors office due to a severe sinus infection and a small bout of dehydration. I remember feeling absolutely terrible and not being able to really get out of bed. I missed 3 weeks of school and could not even muster up the strength to play any video games. It was a time blur.

One day I woke up and immediately notice a golden cartridge in my N64, my Mom had written down the date Majora's Mask came out because I talked about it several months before and was anticipating it greatly. She stood outside the game store an hour before they opened so she could get me the first copy with the shirt and calendar.

We played the game together for hours.
Aw, JetGumRadio made me remember something; I added it to my post.

Some wonderful memories... I've enjoyed reading this thread. +1 to those who shared.
Bump! Results decided tomorrow!

This thread is not only a giveaway, it's also just plain awesome. :) Like Andanzas says, thanks very much to everyone who has entered thus far and told us an awesome story. People who believe videogames are evil really aught to read something like this.
Hard to pick a favourite gaming memory, but my 4 year old playing Happy Action Theater on the Xbox is a recent favourite. Double Fine FTW!

I'm not entering.
