So I recenlty bought Assassin's Creed 3 Deluxe Edition from Nuveem. This was the first time I bought a Uplay title, but the price was interesting, and I gave a try.

I redeemed AC3 on Uplay fine, but can't redeem any of the DLcs that came with the game.
After a quick search, I discovered that you must redeem those code in-game.
Ok, I downloaded the game, put into it all the codes.
After I restarted AC3, a patch comes. Oookay.
Restarted it again, another patch. And another.

There were 6 patches, but why Uplay didn't put into its servers an updated version of the game, just like Steam?

Well, after the latest patch, I went into the game, selected the Washington DLC...and I can't play. The downloadable content wasn't on my hd.

Reading on Nuveem, I discovered that I must download 6 installers, they downloaded the DLC into my hd, then I can install them and play.

But....WHY?

Uplay is the crappiest thing on the Internet! Why I can't simply redeem the DLC codes on Uplay, downloading them from their servers? Why the master of AC3 isn't updated? Why I need to authenticate my DLC into the game, then downloading them from Nuveem? This is just non-sense.
Uplay isn't that bad and mostly works fine but I had the very same issue when I installed AC3+DLC's and it was a damn nightmare and took 3 fucking hours before I finally got everything to work and it shouldn't be that hard to get a game working. So the lesson here is: don't buy DLC!
Uplay works better when you get its games on steam , as in steam downloads all the required data and dlc and uplay just is used for authentication for the game to start

Yeah, I know, but I never seen a complete version of AC3 for 9€ on Steam. And I thought that I can download all DLCs from Uplay, but no :|

But you have to endure 2 DRMs.

Not really, because you always need Uplay to play, Steam is just e feature in this case, you can chat with your friends while playing.
Uplay needs to be optional frankly. That way the games could have a better chance of coming to GOG. Make it an extra service you can sign up for if you want to. It shouldn't be something your forced to do with every Uplay able title.

Did you still manage to play Assassin's Creed 3 anyway?

Yeah, on low, with a lot of framerate issue. But I already played the base version os Ps3 thanks to a friend which lend me its copy of the game, so I only played the Washington DLC on PC :)

I'll agree if you repeat that statement including Valve (Steam), EA (Origin) and Blizzard (Battle.net) titles.... otherwise it's just yet another Ubi-bashing.
feel your pain mate!
im having trouble with blacklist! but like d/l and manual install of the patches seem to have sorted it (fingers crossed!)

im still trying to work out how the heck it lists dlc!
i got myself anno 2070! (grins!) and still trying to figure out where owned dlc / not owned is listed!

I still don't understand why the hell anybody would want to do that.

Because you are wasting time until someone comes online so you can get to work? And instead of hoping you hear skype's beep, you get an ingame notification?
Because you'd rather play a multiplayer game, but none of your friends are online, so you play a single-player one until a friend tells you that he's able to do multiplayer now?
Because you want to be able to tell your friend that you just beat his time for that level?
I could probably give other examples as well, but bottom line is, because they want to be able to do that.
One thing i know for sure: I won't get an UPlay title on Steam. I really don't need two programs running at the same time.

Gonna give a few examples of stuff that you can't get unless you use UPlay: extra DLC's for AC 2-4, MP for Heroes 6 ( that includes the Dynasty mode ), some extras for for FarCry 3, Splinter Cell and so on....

A complete edition on UPlay means that you have to buy the Deluxe Edition. Available in huge numbers, costing an arm and a leg and, with the exception of Far Cry 3, not being available as an upgrade option. So, you bought the normal edition: tough, we won't give you the upgrade option - buy again the deluxe edition so you can get the whole stuff.

Every ounce of UPlay bashing it's well deserved. Look at the AC4 with its MinglePlayer. No one asked for it. Was just forced on the customers. Anyone can get into your Single Player game without permission and do whatever. They call that a social feature. Which no one asked. I call it another form of DRM. I skipped most of the UPlay titles. Got a lot of them for free from upgrading my video card or given by friends. Funny thing: played them once and forgot about them. The only exception was R.U.S.E., that i actually bought on a Steam sale ( not knowing that the game requires UPlay to run along Steam ). But R.U.S.E. actually worth its money.

I seriously doubt that you can make a complete edition on GOG, DRM free for the Assassin Creed 2-4, SC Blacklist or any other games that have MP using Uplay.

I'll agree with you as well. It all makes sense. The great thing about GOG is how you can keep your game on any storage media you want, online or off. There's no limits. But I suppose that's why other services have limits and give rich incentives to draw in gamers. If they didn't they wouldn't be as large as they are. Maybe after GOG get's even half of what Steam's catalog is people will take notice of it more in general and understand the importance of actually owning games and not being forced to use an extra service. Whether the extra service is beneficial or not is not the issue. If it's good, let people who want it use it, otherwise it shouldn't be a part of everyone's purchase.
