WBGhiro: I'm going to assume the day the game was released the rewards were already online, so yes I did effectively pay for them, it's cut content.

ANd yes while i still enjoye dthe game anyways, I really wanted that one car too and the thing just left enough sour tadste in my mouth to not get any uplay games.
One car out of over 100? My definition of "cut content" looks different, but whatever. To put it bluntly: if that ticks you so off to not use Uplay anymore, I don't want to be around when you're seriously pissed. :)

WBGhiro: Because that stuff is actually paced out, hopefully, in a way that doesn't overhelm the player and rewards him at the right point when he's getting bored with the old stuff (if done right of course).
And just because it's done the same way over Uplay instead of an ingame reward, it suddenly isn't? You can't be serious....

My brother just got an Xbox One (That's another issue entirely), but apparently Ubi is even requiring Uplay integration in console games now. Assassins Creed IV uses Uplay and even comes with a required activation code.
Uplay is like just a game launcher, not really a downloader (unless you buy from their shop). Seems like when you redeem a code of some deluxe or complete edition of a game, they only register it as the basic version of game. You are still supposed to download the game from wherever you buy it to get all the extra content. Don't know why they made it this way.

Punished_Snake: Steam is just e feature in this case, you can chat with your friends while playing.

Wishbone: I still don't understand why the hell anybody would want to do that.
When I play, I want to be immersed, I want the closest experience short of a laser digitizing me directly into the virtual like in Tron

I've been locked out of content and neglected by their support, I don't see why I shouldn't be pissed off.

And yes a car out of 100 is content, so are the challenge races, I dont' see why it isn't.

Is it? Was it the devs who picked the cut content or was it some intern at the marketing department, who knows?

And still all this system provides is a layer of unneccessary bullshit, there's no reason at all why this shouldn't be handled ingame. It's a waste of server space, and just one more thing that can go wrong.
And people tend to forget how it was when UPlay was at launch and the titles that were requiring to be online to play them. UPlay was intended as a DRM measure and not as a service. Sure they've patched the online requirement from old titles and then they've found a new bullshit: Mingle Player. That means that anyone can access your game while you are online. Why the frag i need someone else in my SP game?! And of course, AC 4 has content for SP that can be unlocked only if you are doing the online challenges. Or participate in limited time events ( like my only concern in life is to look for those events and go online when they start ). And, yeah, had my share of bad experiences with Ubi support. So, of course I'm pissed.

Also not forgot the most stupid moment om ubi's history: Using a crack ( Reloaded) for removing the protection from Rainbow Six: Vegas:

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/07/18/ubisoft-having-a-crack/

Seriously, how incompetent can you be?! As a publisher and developer to have no clue....I bought Ubi games for a long time. Stopped when they've started to use StarForce ( funny, i got all the SF titles when i've changed my video card ). Bought POP 2008 ( and i still feel screwed, because the alternate ending is only available on XBox360 and PS3 ) and End War because Ubi did the only sensible thing in their life and went DRM free for those two titles. And then they've dropped the UPlay bomb

So, sorry for being pissed at being treated like a friggin' criminal, while the pirates can enjoy a complete game, without being bothered by UPlay or being forced to go online.
I don't mind uplay any more or less than origin, steam is a little better for me at least.

I'm just glad GFWL is dead. That piece of crap was horrifying.
Just curious and off-topicish... what was the last game Ubisoft released on GOG? I'm drawing a blank.

Rayman Origins.

Mighty convenient to always doubt their ways, while being nothing short of sure about your claims (cut content) without any proof at all. Please, stop using the term "facts".

Same with Steam.

Mingle Player / AC 4 - again, that's design decisions they took and has nothing to do with Uplay itself. This "feature" would be around with or without the existence of Uplay.

GOG Arcanum release uses warez scene crack and Deus Ex Invisible War Uses Fairlight Crack!

I never did use it? And pardon me for being doubtful ubisoft means anything less than quality as a name.
Uplay is garbage. Every big game release the service goes to crap, logins timeout or have authentication issues, the game crashes. It takes 30 seconds to check for updates every time it starts up. Ridiculous. It's not even in the same ballpark as Steam and I'm surprised anyone seems to think it is.

Go download Watch Dogs and try it out! No, don't really, it's a pain.

jepsen1977: Uplay isn't that bad and mostly works fine but I had the very same issue when I installed AC3+DLC's and it was a damn nightmare and took 3 fucking hours before I finally got everything to work and it shouldn't be that hard to get a game working. So the lesson here is: don't buy DLC!
No, the Lesson here is buy the base game THEN BUY THE SEASON PASS!
UPLAY = G4WL V2.0

So is Uplay really all about being DRM disguised as a service, or is that being unfair?

You say Uplay isn't that bad in the beginning but the rest of your post says Uplay is a nightmare... It seems Uplay has taken over your mind. You want to the warn the world of it's evil but it's fighting you inside your brain...
