I read on steam that Witcher 3 will be available on SteamOS, does that mean that pre-ordering Witcher 3 on gog.com will also grant me Steam keys, or is it better to just buy the game on Steam and then activate it on gog.com?

Jesus harold christ on rubber crutches, gog does NOT give steam keys.

And you CANNOT activate the game on gog from steam

There is no Steam key with a purchase on GOG and there is no GOG key with a purchase on Steam. One or the other.

You'd expect someone that's registered as back as 2010 to be aware of this fact.

I wonder if the number of this sort of requests is going to exceed the one of pre-orders. ;-P

lol sorry being sick has made me cranky. And he could have done a search in about any of the 30 theads about this exact same question.

If you want the game on SteamOS, it seems that the only option right now is to get it via Steam (or other DD sites providing Steam keys). gOg only provides Windows and Mac still, but hopefully will have some Linux games at some point.

Well if the game is "really" available on SteamOS then it means that it will be available on Linux... and as GoG has said that they will start supporting Linux later this year it means that if you buy it on Gog you will most likely get the Linux version too (on top of the Windows and Mac one); version that you will be able to install on SteamOS should you want to.

Of course all of that is in the sole condition that they "actually" are going to release it on SteamOS and AFAIK there hasn't been any official confirmation yet.

Just like how you can redeem The Witcher and Witcher 2 CD-Keys from Steam to GOG, wouldn't the same rule apply to The Witcher 3?

GOG has currently no similar plans for the 3rd Witcher.

Doing something noteworthy creates expectations, like releasing free DLCs for example. If CDPR announces paid DLCs for Witcher 3, you can be certain that there will a be a lot of outrage everywhere.

Steam makes keys freely available to publishers, for free. So it wouldn't cost gog anything extra to provide them. I'm asking if there has been any official information about this. And yes, I presume that Steam Witcher 3 keys will work on gog.com, just as Witcher 1 and 2 keys did.
